Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

McCaskill now looks up about 10 points -- a 20-point swing since The Incident.

RCP's current Senate map with no toss-ups shows a 50-50 split. Akin's going to be about as popular as diaper rash in the RNC.

Personally I don't believe it. Akin is no worse than 50/50 to win that race IF he sticks it out. He represents the base of the party well. If this issue was a killer in conservative circles, Paul Ryan wouldn't be the VP nominee. Already Huckleberry and Family Research Council are rallying to him and will no doubt raise money (the biggest threat to Akin right now is Crossroads and RNC pulling out of race). The guy's got nothing to lose here.

If we're going down this route, how many people outside of Iowa heard of the state senate candidate who dropped out to become a part of the sovereign citizen movement? Talk about batshiat insane...

Link or it didn't happen.

Closest thing to a non-political link about it

http://wcfcourier.com/news/local/go...cle_b5d391bc-cda4-11e1-b7ff-001a4bcf887a.html

Shannon, who describes herself as an entrepreneur and homeschooling mom, released a four-page message Friday saying she is now the senator of the Republic of the United States of America and the Republic for Iowa.

The group believes that America’s original form of government, a collection of republics, was usurped in 1871 by a corporation called the United States Corporation, according to the group’s website.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Asked about his stance on abortion, Smith said he opposes it, with no exceptions. He then seemed to compare a woman's decision to have a child outside of marriage to having one from rape.

Wow. Akin, Ryan, and Smith........................

Good God, do they want this to be an issue in the last two months of a national campaign? Don't they remember how they won in 2010? Run on jobs, jobs, jobs, and then pass 2,334 laws about women's ladyparts. They're doing it backwards.

Remember the 2,334 ladypart laws have only scratched the surface of what they really want to pass.

Iowa Public Radio also had a lengthy follow-up segment on this about 2 weeks ago, can't find it in their archives at the moment.

So it happened. And I'm guessing you didn't hear about it unless you lived in Iowa.

Yep, they're doin it wrong. The traditional GOP Plan is to talk to the middle and then govern to the right. Then again, given that they're running to the far right, maybe that means they plan to govern even farther to the right.

All the more reason to hand them a decisive loss. Then maybe their adults will man up a bit.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Well well well, yet another Republican Senate candidate "goes there".

I'm calling out Old Pio and Bob Gray. I thought you guys said these views weren't widespread in the Republican Party?
They've been behind the Christian Taliban base for years. It's really just as well these guys are finally slithering out into the open. They're much more dangerous when they lurk in the dark.

Well, let's be honest, they quietly supported the R's from when Reagan started courting the Moral Majority right through the 2000's, when the Republicans had the House, Senate and White House and did nothing to advance their social issues. After that, they seem to have decided that the only way anything's getting done along their lines is if they go to Washington and 50 state capitols and do it themselves while making it a major issue. They had to come out into the open.

About 20% of Americans oppose abortion under any circumstance. This is nothing new, the data are readily available, even to a smear artist like you.

Is this senator Casey the son of the former Governor of Pennsylvania who was not permitted to address the delegates of the "Abortion Party" because he was pro-life?
