East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

Was surprised Cornell did "home of the Red" in the SSB. WCHA fans are only used to home of the sioux, which is annoying enough.

I've never heard "home of the Red" - just the entire Cornell crowd yelling RED at the "rockets RED glare" part of the song.

I still think UNH should just steal the "Screw BU" cheer from Cornell. Cheer is simple "Screw BU, BC too" for example. I just can't remember which band song starts it. Then use it during Hockey East games.

e^x dx dy
e^x dx
sec, cos, tan, sin
3.14159
PI, PI, Radical Mu
Beat'm Beat'm MTU

RIT's:

e^x dx dy
e^x dx

3.14159
PI, i times 3
Let's go! Let's go! RIT!

And I'm pretty we all stole this cheer from MIT...

I don't think we do that second 'e^x' line.

Yeah, I think you did steal it from us

I learned it as:

e to the x dy dx
cosine secant tangent sine
3.14159
square of i, log of e
Dis-integrate 'em MIT

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

MTU wins IMO

"Beat'm Beat'm MTU" is far more hockey than the MIT, RPI and RIT versions...

Maybe, but I've also heard the cheer claimed to be from Cal Tech (which I believe) and Stanford (which I don't, having tutored Stanford kids).

We don't do that; it doesn't even make sense.

We've chanted "red" glare for 20 years. RPI started doing it now. Union chants "U" (I've never understood why they don't chant "U C." Clarkson chants proof through the "knight," which of course then leads SLU to chant "sucks" right after, which is the only one of these things I think is disrespectful.

Anyway, at least we sing the stupid song. Most crowds talk throughout it and start cheering all through the final stanza, which, at least when there's a live singer, actually is rude.

But dis-integrate keeps the geek vibe going. Who cares if it's not hockey related? We get to use it for football, too.

Actually, Minny did "Home of the GOOFERS" when we played in Mariucci a few years ago. So apparently UND aren't the only WCHA team that does that.

I originally said:Was surprised Cornell did "home of the Red" in the SSB. WCHA fans are only used to home of the sioux, which is annoying enough.

JB said: "I've never heard "home of the Red" - just the entire Cornell crowd yelling RED at the "rockets RED glare" part of the song."

I apologize to Cornell fans for not understanding the "rockets Red glare", not home of the... .

Never heard the gophs add that to the SSB. Maybe its because rodents aren't very noisy :D

The students at Denver say "home of the PIONEERS" but no one else in the DU crowd says it.

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

Denver lacks the intensity and physical presence to win in playoff hockey. They were physically manhandled by Wisconsin and North Dakota last week in St. Paul--if RIT DOESN'T BEAT THEM [which they will] then CORNELL sure as hell will.

OH and don't forget: FIRE SCOTTY OWENS

Fixed you post, actually it was RPI I believe, funny story on that cheer was that the long time DJ Hawk aka the Grim Reaper never liked the fact that we "borrowed" that cheer and used to try and play over the cheer when he was the DJ....

Not true PS. My daughter and I always say it loudly from Section 1 (That's because my first two years of being a DU fan was spent in the student section when I was doing post-grad work. 5 bucks a seat on the glass. Every once and while I still go down there and sit with Hossier Pio. It makes you feel like you;re right in the game (hence my locale--On the Glass) Friday afternoon I'll say it with the other faithful from section 122 at the TUC,

Union chants "U" (I've never understood why they don't chant "U C."

Me neither! I said the same thing this weekend. :)

which of course then leads SLU to chant "sucks" right after, which is the only one of these things I think is disrespectful.

Oh, give me a break. First, it's ALL disrespectful. Second, SLU fans are quieter than any group of fans I've seen during the anthems. Third, small groups of fans from EVERY school yell SUCKS after another group yells out "U" or "RED" or whatever. I heard it all weekend in Albany, including from Cornell fans after Union yelled their "U."

Don't remember doing that when I was a student. Hmmm, maybe it was the pre-parties before the games  :o
