Darci and Matt - Did you see yourselves on the highlights shown during the selection show yesterday? Some of UNH's finest.
Sadly I was waaaaay too excited when I saw that.
Oh come on, how often are the whole lot of us ever on television? I mean its not like we sit in a location where significant things happen in the game that would cause cameras to focus on our general location on a regular basis...
Oh wait
Nice to mention Alaska, but I think RIT making the tournament after only 5 years in DI should have gotten a mention.
If you are going off ticketmaster or the local box office they are not showing the blocks available through the participating schools. While I agree this may be better than average attended regional I doubt that it will be close to a full house.
It's a shame because there should be some great hockey.
That's probably more like 35% CU, 25% UNH, 20-25% RIT, 15% or so DU and random. Maybe I'm too optimistic on the RIT side, but I think you underestimated a bit. Anyway, we'll see on Friday.
It could easily be that you're right, as you say, we'll find out. Good luck in your game.
O.K. all you Cornell fans how's your sense of humor? Probably heard this before:BIG RED IS GUMAlso do you have to yell out RED during the SSB?![]()
Are you serious, who came up with that one? A first grader?
The Red thing during the national anthem does not bother me, those are the kind of traditions that make college hockey so great.
There were about 2,000 people at that Regional, IIRC. The final was on Easter Sunday, which didn't help.
Albany will be a different story, attendence wise.
I would think RIT would have had a better shot at Denver had Denver won or played well in St. Paul, and the Pioneers would perhaps be naturally overlooking the Tigers in the Regional.
This year, with Denver having played poorly in St. Paul, I think we'll see a much more focused Denver effort in the Regional as a result. Denver has played well all season and was the best team in the rugged WCHA. There is a lot of personal and school pride to salvage with the bad showing last weekend, and I think you'll see a different DU team in Albany than you saw last weekend. If we don't see a better performance from Denver, I would be very surprised...this DU team won't be taking anyone lightly.
Denver has a great hockey team...but I feel RIT will stay w/them every step of the way !! RIT has a very physical team w/alot of offensive firepower. Alot of people look and say, they play in the AHA...big deal...Is Cornell in the sweet 16 in basketball. I am glad RIT beat Sacred Heart in their final beacause SH doesn't have any defense !! RIT will keep up w/ Denver...this game will be a nail biter .Gotta root for my AHA team...GO TIGERS !!!

...........but Cornell is also playing incredibly well now, perhaps just as well as they were when they beat UNH. I'm not sure when I've seen such a dominating effort in the ECAC tourney (4 games, 3 shutouts, outscored opponents 14-1). Scrivens is playing with tremendous confidence and we're getting offense from some of the non first line type players. Should be a good game, hopefully the winner avoids overtime to have some legs for Denver the next night. I'm hoping Schafer doesn't have to shorten the bench, don't want Riley & Co. running out of steam. Looks like a good regional, won't be easy for anyone to emerge from Albany victorious.Having been a Cornell student from 2000 to 2004, it's hard not to get excited about the UNH matchup and the possibility of retribution. It'll be interesting to see how the earlier victory this year affects this game. On one hand, Cornell knows how to beat UNH, but on the other hand, UNH knows how they were beaten and what to watch for. Plus it looks like the UNH team we're playing now is much better than the one we saw in January.
