East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

Bob,
If UNH wins tomorrow, I would buy it assuming it is a decent seat. Mind you, I'm not sure there is a good seat for hockey at Ford Field, but.....I digress.

Go Cats! Beat R.I.T!

Dan, I just want the Cats to make it to the FF and come out here!! Can't wait to see them in Detroit again... and this time with a lot on the line. GO CATS!!

How many extra rooms do you have? :D

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

If my memory serves me well, I've seen the last three Cornell/UNH playoff games, and I don't know what it is (besides, of course, that UNH is always a great team with strong coaching from Umile--hard to really consider them an underdog), but they are amazingly good at throwing our goalies off their game, starting with Underhill the year before the very disappointing LeNeveu FF game (worst I had seen Dave all year)...and of course, today. And it sounds like the game earlier this year between the two wasn't a good match b/c UNH was off their game. It would be great to see the two teams match up when they are both playing their best--it would be one heck of a game (with a pretty rowdy group of fans to support it!). Congrats UNH and RIT on two good games today...hope both teams come with the energy they had today--will be an exciting match-up if they do!

Big Red... UNH played Cornell earlier this year (Jan 3) just after the holiday tournaments. This year UNH did not play in a holiday tournament and had not had a game since Dec 11-- a span of 23 days. UNH LOOKED every bit of that time off as they were sluggish nearly the whole game. Tonight was a much better representation of how they can skate when they have their legs going.

Al, actually none.. but can find ya a couch or two! :D

Anyone needing a place, let me know... I can make some calls and likely find pretty a pretty reasonable deal for you.

Edit: Should be a good FF crowd... already sold 30,000 tickets.

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

I guess I don't need to go through ticketscalper...errr master to get a ticket.

Looking forward to my three hour or so drive.

It took me 2 1/2 hours to return from RPI and Mike Ayers first collegiate start. I think I might have been breaking the law that day.

Chad,
I would be glad (easy rhyme, huh?) to see you in Detroit.

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

RIT can't play with that much energy and with that hot of a goalie two nights in a row, UNH will win this while the crowd of 500(after RIT fans leave) falls asleep

Really? I've seen it happen plenty of times. Also I would not be surprised if the number of RIT fans doubles tomorrow. We don't leave early or stop cheering no matter what the score is. Anyone that leaves early isn't much of a fan...not to mention it would be dumb to leave early after driving that far.

To be realistic it is more likely that UNH will win but I don't think you can count RIT out, especially if they continue to play like they have been for the past month or so.

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

Guys - we want them to think RIT can't do it again, cause when they do come out and play with the same evergy, they will be surprised. UNH cannot think that they have it made to get to the Frozen 4 because RIT will give them everything they got.

All the UNH players were standing down in the tunnel behind the RIT net as the game wound down. I'm pretty sure they have an idea what they're in for. :)

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

I don't think this UNH team takes anything for granted. I expect them to come out later tonight with the same effort they played with last night. As for results, I am hopeful they will win.

Last year's experience against North Dakota and against BU seems to have changed this team. Haven't seen a NCAA no show since Miami in Manchester and Notre Dame in Colorado Springs.

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

I think the lesson that we all learned is that while an RIT or other Atlantic Hockey teams can't get the "blue chip" recruits, they can get guys who are pretty darn good. And if you get the right coaching, they can fo amazing things.

While DeMike was incredible, the RIT win was a great team effort. I feel they BEAT Denver - not just outscored them. This could have been more lopsided had RIT been able to convert on a couple of their 2 on 1 chances. They will need to do that if they are going to advance against a UNH team that smoked Cornell and another of the best goaltenders in the NCAA.

RIT fans will be in full force for the game. It should be a good one.

I would just get tickets there and save the money

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

I watched the Cornell./UNH game on TV and the place looked absolutely desolate. With Denver being the only team from "away".....Cornell used to the trip every year, UNH and RIT being all not that far away you'd have to say the turnout was horrible.
Friday is a horrible day for 3:00 + 6:30 starts, the drive from NH for most was 3 1/2 hours + or -, not too many people (that I know, at least) are out of work early enough to make it. RIT sent 4 buses and I don't doubt a few of the Cornell fans were up the road for Basketball last night, other wise it would have been worse.

QFT.

As I recall from the RIT thread, they're sending busses out at 1:30PM from RIT tomorrow.

Should be a -REALLY- good crowd. I think.

If nothing else, Umile will force, no...demand...that these guys respect RIT. They've earned this chance to go to the FF, and they've got the same shot UNH does. We'll bring just as much focus and intensity as RIT. Definitely won't be a Lazy Denver.

Re: East Regional: #1 Denver v. #4 RIT; #2 Cornell v. #3 New Hampshire

FANTASTIC efforts tonight from both RIT and UNH! Definitely worth the $80 and 2+ hour drive from Syracuse to check these games out!

Huge efforts by both teams tonight, and really looking forward to tomorrow's regional final!

A special thanks to that group of UNH students (if any of you happen to by USCHO posters) that kept me and my friends entertained all game long. Disappointed that such a small group of you came, but entertaining none the less.

Were you the guys in BU jerseys and Yankees hats to our right?

HEY! Only he was wearing the Yankee hat. You won't catch me wearing one of those. :D

I concur, two thorough games. RIT stymied Denver defensively, forced a lot of turnovers. I don't think Denver had their heads on right, but RIT definitely earned the W as well. Cornell also looked off for a good portion of the game, but UNH absolutely picked them apart. Scrivens was left out to dry a lot with a lot of uncharacteristic turnovers, but UNH forced a lot of those and made great shots. Almost every single goal was a 15 ft snipe it seemed. Butler showed me why he's getting all the accolades he is, quick, smart, and fun to watch.

Looking forward to a good one tonight. I don't think UNH will be quite as dry as Denver was, but I won't officially make a pick because both my picks for this regional have already gone wrong!

Anyone know how much tickets are? I'm not going to have to pay $80 to watch 1 game am I?

You can check the RIT alumni association. They have tickets for $40. If you want to save a few bucks than getting it at the door. Whatever you do, don't get tickets online at tickets.com.
