Both things are true - they're not looking to cut "fairly" and and when they have made cuts they were made with an axe not a scalpel.

"Not cutting evenly" and "Cutting some things while growing others" are two fundamentally different things, so I get where Handy is coming from. Not cutting evenly still guarantees that there will be a net cut to the size of government.

Cutting a $150M from the national parks while adding $150B to defense is not smaller government.

That's not really what I said but perhaps I worded it poorly. Yet I would think knowing what they are actually doing the intent of my statement would be obvious.

When I said they want to shrink the government I meant specifically in regards to "liberal programs". Of course they don't have any plans to shrink the defense department.
