Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Ok look at the shots please . It something like 46 to 15 I beleive . The Cortland goalie stood on her head and then some . I give them credit. Neumann beat them the following day. Neumann is alot better then the stats show . Beating St. Anslem was not a far cry at all . They have alot of talent. Main Issue is they have 3 new goalies(that are doing OK but with no experience ) and a new coach that is trying to play her Freshman recruits in key situations more than her experienced seniors (who are the far better players ) With the old coach this team would have a couple more wins . Not against Plattsburgh but definitley Oswego.

The win over Saint Anselm( not Anslem),was an interesting win . After a 6 1/2 bus trip St.A's beat Neumann 3-0, shots 40-13 on Friday night. In the Saturday game, playing a freshman goalie, they were leading 4-1 , half way thru the second. Neumann , to their credit scored the next 4 goal , 2 SH and 1 pp and shots 40-19, to win in overtime.
I'm not sure if NU ever had a comeback like that, but I can tell you in 10 years, St.A's had never given up a 3 goal lead and lost.
Look, it was a great win by Neumann but given the relative talent at this point , the win could be classified in the " far cry" category.
In any event, it must have been a good game to watch

Superior's stock continues to drop. They skated to a 2-2 tie with Marian this afternoon. Looks like a strong goalie performance for Marian as shots were 47-16.

Bethel continues to surge completing the sweep of Eau Claire.

With the Gusties loss to River Falls last night, is it a sign that their reign in the west is coming to an end?? They have yet to beat a UW school this season. Can Bethel dethrone the Gusties???

Marian is a much improved team this year with strong goaltending.

Stevens Point swept St. Thomas this weekend; both were one-goal games. Point is playing with a lot of heart and determination so far this year -- hope they can continue to do so after the break.

I haven't seen Gustavus play this year, but I think St. Thomas might be able to give them a run for their money. St.. Thomas is physical and strong -- just need to find one or two scorers. The two teams meet in mid-February.

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

St. Thomas kept their All American goalie on the bench both games against Point. Still need to score goals though. Gustavus has about a dozen new players on their roster, and Bethel goes as their first line goes. The MIAC is wide open at top with those 3 being in for a battle the last two weekends of the season.

I took the ferry from NY - VT about 10 AM this morning. The wind was up and the ferry was doing at least 3 foot rolls from side to side. I wonder if a few of the Lady Cadets got seasick (assuming the bus used the ferry)??

Plattsburgh just better team right now. Plain and simple. Norwich has to dig deep in the big games.

Didn't help not having Gemmiti and Moore.

Sydney Aveson is one shutout from tying and two from breaking the D3 career shutout record.

Also it appears that she's at 55 career wins, which would leave her needing 13 wins to tie Amy Statz's D3 record of 68 career wins with 14 regular season games remaining, plus ECAC West and NCAA Tourney play.

Plattsburgh's three goals in the first were (if I remember right) were shot a total of 10 feet away from the crease. Changing goaltenders settled things down for the Cadets until midway through the third, but I agree that Plattsburgh just looked stronger yesterday.

Pretty much. First goal was bad d-zone coverage and then an unfortunate bounce off a defenders skate. Second goal was once again poor d-zone coverage but also forgetting about a player that had fallen down and was out of the play. Shot bounces off the boards behind the net right onto Stewart's stick as she's getting back into the play and she's wide open on the crease to put it in with no defender picking her up.
