Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

I'm curious what the rankings will look like tomorrow (yes I know they dont matter).

River Falls should drop all the way out, I would assume...maybe hang on to #10 because they are River Falls
St Norbert should drop out.

St Scholastica should move in. Does Stevens Point make the jump to Number 10?

I guess I'd say...
1. Plattsburgh
2. Middlebury
3. Norwich
4. Elmira
5. Superior
6. Gustavus
7. Bowdoin
8. St. Scholastica
9. Manhattanville (Does the St. A's loss affect them?)
10. Stevens Point

Had the right teams, wrong order. I'm surprised Stevens Point jumped all the way up to 7. Will be a good match up in Stevens Point next weekend. I really wish Point would join the modern age and have live stats or video for their games!!

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

So i'm trying to watch the UWS/UWSP game...the video feed lasts for about 5 secondds and then it "buffers" for 30 seconds...and then repeats. anythig I can do to fix that?

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Stevens Point scored about halfway thru the 2nd and Superior tied it up with a little over 4 to go. So 1-1 after 2

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Stevens Point gets the 2-1 win over UWS. Superior had a few good chances right at the end, but coudln't get it in.

I didn't see a lot of offensive strategy from UWS...just a lot of skating it into and throwing it at the net. Hopefully they bounce back tomorrow!

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Looks like New England college got their first win of the season over St Michaels 3-0. It was also Kristi Kehoe's first win as a head coach. I will be heading up to see their bout with Norwich (just look for the guy who accidentally cheers for 'NU' in an NEC jersey).

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Superior 1 Stevens Point 1 after 1. Superior definitely outplaying the Pointers in the first period. Pointers scored first early in the period, but Superior answered on the power play late.

St Norbert comes back to beat Adrian 2-1 today.

Re: Division III score updates - 2013-2014

Franklin Pierce moves to 5-1-0 with 2 wins over Stevenson this weekend. 4-1 Friday night in a penalty filled game and 4-2 this afternoon.

Superior 3 SP 1 Final.

The Superior team that showed up today was pretty good. Looked a lot different then the team last night. Hopefully they figure out that they have to play both games!

Plattsburgh 5
Hello Neuman 0

Yet another shutout for Aveson!

The streak is on!

Today...more of the same

Platty is now 8-0 with ZERO goals against this season to day....unbelievable.

What is the longest shutout streak in the NCAA? Anybody know?

Very entertaining series, as were the games with River Falls. There seems to be parity in the league, which should make for an exciting year. River Falls' fans were out in full force, complete with their tailgating/party RV. 😄

After watching four conference games, I am not impressed with the WIAC referees. The referees called no penalties against Point in the first game against Superior. Come on, Point without a penalty, seriously? They made up for it in the second game by calling six on Point compared to only two on Superior. In the River Falls series, the referees failed to capture a single second assist. In the first Superior game, they got the first assist wrong on one of Point's goals and the second assist wrong on another Point goal, however that one was subsequently changed. Is it too much to ask to get the scoring right?

In addition to so-so refs, I am disappointed that Point does not do a better job of recording accurate stats at their home games. They either don't record plus/minus at all (as in the first game), or they do it wrong ( as in the second game). Superior has 3 goals, yet no one from Superior receives a plus and no one from Point receives a minus. Point has 1 goal, and the five players on the ice receive a plus. Some of those Point players were also on the ice for one or more of Superior's goals, which should have negated their plus.

The sad part of it is that these box scores become the "official" stats and players are compared to each other in the conference using these erroneous stats. While I understand this is not Division I, it is still college hockey and I think the girls deserve to have their stats recorded accurately. We had better officiating and recording of stats in our high school games.

Okay, I think I am done now, On to Eau Claire after the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!

The video feed left a little to be desired as well. The person holding the camera didn't return until midway through the 2nd period on Saturday. So I could hear the sound, but all I could see was a black screen. Eventually they came back and picked up the camera. They stand above the blue line on the left side of the benches...so you get a good view of the game at that end, but can't see anything going on at the far end. He/she also was late to the 3rd period. :(

I'd be shocked if that isn't the D-III women's record if not more....Very impressive streak to start the season. If they get through Middlebury and Amherst without giving up a goal I'll be even more impressed. Take nothing away from what they have already accomplished. Plattsburgh, as expected is establishing themselves as the Class of D-III this season.

Do not know longest streak, but dIII season individual record for shutouts is 13 by Amy Statz, Wis.Stevens Point, 2005

I'm bored and waiting for laundry to finish...so I flipped through schedules of contenders..

Gustavus had a 7 game shut out streak in 08-09
Elmira had a 7 game streak in 02-03 to start the season

Gustavus had a 6 game shut out streak in 04-05
Elmira had a 6 game shut out streak in 04-05

Multiple teams had a 5 game streak. Looks like 8 is the record.

Kevin Houle is a better choice to be Team USA coach than Stone. Jim Plumer is just as good.
