DIII game notes

Yea because DIII hockey is so huge in St Charles Missouri. They would probably let them play between periods like youth hockey does. DIII Women's hockey hardly gets the fans as is. Why make the ones who follow their team all season travel cross country to be second fiddle to someone else. The only combining that should be entertained is DIII Men and Women.

This is the same NCAA who wont fly a couple teams in the first round to make a more fair bracket, but would be willing to fly FOUR just to go to someone elses Final Four? Or are we going back to the Championship game only during the FF?

Great post! I'd love to see the D3 men and women in a combined championship weekend. You'd want to set up a rotation of some sort so each gender would have the prime time schedule in alternating years or maybe within the weekend itself somehow. It would take some creativity and commitment by both genders but I think it could be a very exciting format and opportunity for the teams that reach that weekend. You'd still be looking at some travel issues but at least those issues would be for an all D3 weekend.

But DIII is primarily sticking to DIII areas for travel issues at least, Missouri is not.

IMO
Thursday 4PM & 7PM Women's Semi Finals
Friday 4Pm & 7pm Men's Semi Finals
Saturday 3PM Womens Finals
Sunday 3PM Men's Finals

Everyone gets their spotlight

I know they have a couple more nights of hotels, but god forbid the NCAA open their wallets for lonely DIII sports....

I like it! What about the 3rd place game? Do away with it like the men have?

On a different note I'm going out on a limb here; I predict Cortland will "post" their first win of the season today! It might be their only chance to win a game this year so they better make the most of the opportunity.

How come some teams don't appear on the KRACH rankings? Morrisville comes to mind. Having a very good season (9-2) but not showing up?

It may be that they forgot to add them to the database. It's been known to happen.

Is LVC in the rankings?

It might be a good idea for LVC and Post to just play each other the rest of the season with their 8 skaters each. There's really no point for them to play anyone else. It's just as much of an embarrassment to the game as Daniel Webster was last year. Maybe these programs will go one and done too just like Daniel Webster did.

I agree that it's bad for the game, but I'd like to let the coach recruit her own players for a couple of seasons before I start calling for anyone's program to get cut. Morrisville had a short bench year one, has 21 this year (with more D than forwards) and have a respectable record (9-2, but their best win is probably Hamilton). They will probably [hopefully] have traditional full lines next season.

This isn't even really year 1 for LVC given the way they chose to launch the program with the men's coach doing both classes, and women's hockey has a much smaller pool of players to choose from. Stevenson launched a men's team this year with a roster of 35, a number trimmed down from 55 when they had their exhibition. That can never happen in the women's game. They deserve time.

Agree about LVC and have previously posted the same thing. The way they started things there is a joke. Also a joke is the guy they hired at Post. I have a pretty strong feeling that program will be a perpetual doormat at best. Sad really but their own fault.

Maybe Utica should dress half their team for the first half of the game at LVC today and the other half of their team for the second half of the game just to try to give LVC half a chance at being slightly competitive. Great opportunity for Utica's 3rd and 4th string goalies (yes they have 4 goalies including 2 freshmen that haven't seen any game time yet....maybe one of them should transfer to Plattsburgh...lol) to get some game action, assuming you call 8-12 shots game action.

Re: DIII game notes

Good tie for William Smith today hosting Conn Coll.

"official" shot total was 40 but honestly, that was way, way off...Should have been more like 55 or 60 shots for Conn. Camels could easily have won this one 4 or 5 to 0 but for the Smith goalie who was outstanding. PS...Smith team won't win any Lady Byng awards...lots of BS during game and after whistles...and their coach needs to get a grip too.

Strange end to OT as Conn scored with about 1 sec to go... ref behind the net signaled "goal" but the linesman in the corner waved it off...never seen that before.:eek:

Midd had that happen in their game against Plattsburgh in November. Ref signaled goal, but the linesman saw that was tipped in by a high stick.

So your trip to the cooler was positive lol

Well...the town was nice...lol [and yes, that's one **** cold rink!]
....and it wasn't even cold haha I didn't make it to the games but their goalie gives them a chance. After that...

I won't go into it about the coach.

As far as the city...you didn't get shot so..., and I don't mean that in a personal way, just been a lot of shots fired over the past few months in that area...

Hard to believe that UMass-Boston couldn't find a better team than Post to round out their tournament field this year. Waste of time for teams like themselves or Bowdoin or Stevenson to play a team like Post.

Re: DIII game notes

Norwich/Trinity has been postponed to next Tuesday at 6pm at Kreitzberg due to the weather forecast.

I heard one of the Stevenson players actually broke a sweat today. I think once Stevenson had more goals than Post had shots they could have backed off more and shown more class than to run up the score that much. Not very classy. Hopefully they switched positions and maybe sat their top 2 lines or something. Maybe having the lefties and righties switch sticks with each other.

What a shame Post has to go through this type of first year of their program.
