Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

And folks, that is reason #13,906 why you don't put Ryan Raburn in the outfield. That's about as useful as entering a crippled beagle in the Kentucky Derby.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

And now Captain Numbnuts gets picked off 1st, a half inning later.

Guys, I can't make this stuff up. I'm not that creative.

Probably will be starting at New York this weekend.

Angels are scratching Weaver and throwing a rookie with a 9.53 ERA.

Yup, 95 wins possible and the Angels want to fubar the Tigers chance of hosting 1st round and have Weaver win a piece of the AL pitching triple crown. They are the LA Kings of MLB.

Didn't Weaver say that he probably only be out there tonight if he was going for 20 wins.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Verlander has the ERA title unless Weaver goes out and pitches a couple scoreless innings.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Manny Acta gets run in the final game of the year. In the first inning.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Ryan Perry needs to have Dontrelle Willis show him where the strike zone is.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

This could be Jim Thome's final MLB at bat......

And Valverde strikes him out swinging.

5-4 final.

95 wins on the season. Valverde saves 49 of them.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Rangers win so the Tigers will head to NY. Why cant the ALEast teams face each other again? That must be one of the dumbest rules in sports.

Not gonna lie. Might prefer facing the Yankees to dealing with the Rays.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Forgive me for not going back to the start of this season threads- but who won the bet- streaker or hammer?

Hope you guys share it at a Tigers playoff game. Of course, streaker- if you get tickets to the home games on Monday and Tuesday, i don't expect to see you at Yost for either night (actually, i'll not be there Monday, anyway).

Never expected them to do this well, so I'm happy. regardless what happens.

Hammer and I didn't bet this season. He won last season. But, I did say the Tigers would win 84-86 games. They exceeded my prediction based on some excellent late season trade deadline moves.

I'll be at Yost on Tuesday only. I haven't been to the Copa in a couple seasons.

I can't say I'm happy about the BS, classless move by Scioscia and the Angels mailing in their Texas series. But, based on how they acted in Detroit last time, I'm not surprised.

Having a series here would have put a ton of pressure on the team, IMO. They showed no fear on the road this season and I actually think Verlander would have won his 25th game if he was pitching on the road. I'll take my chances going into NY with two of the top performing pitchers in baseball the last few months.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Last year I nailed it when they finished .500. This year I picked 91 wins, pretty close but happy to come in low.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Okay. We're less than an hour from first pitch.

To me, the key for the Tigers is pretty obvious. Verlander and Fister must pitch like they have the past two months. We're in a 5-game series. The pitching must deliver at least two wins from the Verlander and Fister starts, or we're dead. Those two can start a maximum of 3 games in this series. 2 of 3 from them and then split between Scherzer and Porcello. The math is pretty simple, and it depends on the big two.

P.S. Jhonny Peralta is batting 8th. Ryan Raburn is hitting 7th tonight and playing 2B. Umm, yeah...................
