Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Could we at least try to finish strong and not have to enter the playoffs crapping down our legs?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

I wouldn't worry too much about last night. Most of the pitching that was played won't be in the post season. It would be kinda nice to beat a hot Baltimore, and Cleveland to end the season though.

Sorry to tarnish this winning thread with news on a loser .......but just heard on the radio that Denny Mclain was a passenger in a vehicle turned around at the Bluewater Bridge in Sarnia On.

When the vehicle was pulled over by US Customs attempting to re-enter on the Port Huron,Mi. side Denny was arrested for an outstanding theft warrant (< $1500.00) in Louisiana from August.

JV not looking good for 25, going to need some help. 6 hits, 4 earned, 57 pitches in 2 IP, ouch.

Denny McLain and theft. Color me shocked.

CABRERA!!!

5-4 O-faces, bottom 6.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Peralta gets Verlander off the hook, singling in Rhymes with 2 out in the 8th.

Verlander finishes 24-5, 2.40 ERA, 250 K's. All three lead the league. The ERA is the only one that is close.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Cabrera and Martinez have homered. No homer lights, as I did not see them live.

Martinez' homer put him at 101 RBI for the year. Cabby is at 103.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Sent an email to Sports Illustrated last week with Hammer-ish amounts of anger and sarcasm that they sent the NY Jets cover to a subscriber in Michigan after I was looking forward to adding the Verlander cover to my collection including the other Verlander cover from 2006. The replacement arrived today. :D

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

I'm surprised they didn't slap a restraining order on you. Besides, why would you want a copy of the SI Curse?

If Victor's double was fair there, I'm Abe Lincoln.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

why would you want a copy of the SI Curse?
(I'm sure you all know this but I've got to say it again) The Curse is a myth based on the statistical impossibility of athletic hot streaks continuing indefinitely.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Big Boy may mess around and win the batting title.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

At this point I just hope we've saved enough runs for the rest of the week. Including the off-day on Thursday.

Lions lead the Browns, 14-0.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 2 - The Charlie Gehringer version

Hey. You requested the JV Sports Illustrated, not me. :p

That's #30, and probably the batting title.
