Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Least surprising turn of events ever.

I think 513 of those have been against Detroit.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Especially the way Schlereth was headed. I said to myself about 2 pitches prior, "if he lobs one of those over the plate, we're gonna see it right here". Sure enough, boom.

From what I've heard and read, Jim Thome is one of the really good guys of the game. Oh, and by the way...........

RABURN!!!

9-6 Twins, bottom 7

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

IIRC the Twins announcers said 65 or so against the Tigers - it was in the 10% range. :)

Well, early on in Verlander's career, it seemed like he hit one on every at bat, and hit a few more from the on-deck circle. I think the first two years, if Verlander tried to throw one over the press box, Thome would find a way to hit it out.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

I think the Royals are the team everyone has the most home runs against.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

PTBNL= Inge? Raburn? 3/5 of the Tigers rotation??? Inquiring minds see ya Rod Allen.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Daniel Schlereth is now more famous than his dumb arse dad ever was as a football player. Although he can thank a certain superstar for his superbowl ring(s).

Also, from Freep. "According to baseball-reference.com, it was Thome's 65th homer off the Tigers -- more than any other team."

Yeah. I could have swore I remember Bremer talking about how he had more against the Royals recently. Maybe I did, and he was just wrong, which wouldn't really surprise me.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Thome=Tigers kryptonite. Isn't it time for him to make his way to our team? Just sayin'.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Lester Oliveros is the PTBNL for Young.

I have no idea who this is but if Oliveros is alive he is better than what I expected Billy Smith to get. Then again, I figured Smith would actually trade for Crash Davis.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Nice velocity, 95 or so, but has had control issues in the minors. Limited sample size this year in Detroit.

Oliveros in the minors

So he's a pudgy Venezuelan with control issues? Mijares' job sure is in trouble now.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Didn't we just get a third baseman a couple weeks ago, or was that just a figment on my imagination?

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

Nishioka needs to shut his cakehole and realize he's in the American League, and not playing the Yomiuri Giants anymore. We slide hard into 2nd base here in the states, and besides, he slipped and fell on his *** 8 feet from 2nd base, while Jackson went right at the bag. All he had to do was reach down and touch the bag.

Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version

This is nice, really nice, but Martinez right there just showed us that we need to bring up a 3rd catcher, and soon. He's not ready to catch, and we can't burn Avila out.
