Well, Zambrano went nanners in the dugout today after the top of the 1st and got himself suspended from the Cubs indefinitely (well overdue, IMO). Afterwards the media asked Guillen about it. For the most part Guillen acted like a grown-up, and also said that he has dinner with Zambrano regularly. He also made the comment that Zambrano would have "plenty of time to make the reservations now", which drew a nice laugh.

That was a dog**** display of hitting after Avila's double to open the 5th. I don't agree with staying with the bunt with Oliver at 0-2, and both Damon and Santiago just made Gump Laird look like Tony freaking Gwynn at the plate. They flat-out gave those at-bats away.

Why bunt with Oliver anyway? He made contact with it his first at-bat, might as well see if he can do it again instead of automatically sacrificing an out with a bunt (or in this case, without a bunt).

I don't have a problem moving the runner over to third with 1 out, with the top of the order to follow, especially with a pitcher who hasn't hit in 4 years (they use the DH in both college and the minors, so it's been a while since he swung the bat). With 2 strikes there's no reason to bunt in that situation. Might as well have him take a rip there.
Damon and Santiago essentially threw their at bats away. That's the part that really chaps my ***.
Oh, and Edwin Jackson just threw a no-no, but might have wrecked his arm in the process. 149 pitches?

2-1 loss to the Braves. The only one that did his job tonight was the kid. 6 IP, 2 R allowed in his MLB debut. Not bad at all.
The offense, OTOH, was awful. Austin Jackson looked like Gump Laird in that last at-bat. I have no idea what he was looking for.
