Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

The bubble gum and duct tape lineup appears to be feasting off of the NL bottom feeders. Stop the presses, Laird went 3 for 4. Good for Raburn, unnamed SS (Worth or Santiago), Laird, Inge and Kelly. Cabrera and Mags can't do it every night. And the wunderkid has hit the wall.

Does it look like some of the luster is off Damon, or is that just because Jackson isn't in the lineup?

First signs of issues with Papa Grande, too.

If the Tigers don't take 2 of 3 from the Nats after sweeping the Pirates... then get last place Arizona in... and sweep them...then they aren't gonna make any serious ground that they need to do now- not with the brutal eastern/midwest road trip coming.

I'll be taking my dad to his first game at Comerica Park on Saturday, and I need your help. I'll be dropping him off at the park due to some mobility problems he has, and then I'll need to find a place to park the car. I shudder at paying $25. Anybody know of a place that's within a safe 5 minute walk of the park that's a reasonable price?

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

I park about 10 blocks from Comerica, at the VFW Lodge on the corner of Woodward and Temple Street. They charged $10 the last time I was there, but that was ~2 years ago. They watch the lot until a reasonable time after the game, and from there it's a straight shot down Temple to the Lodge Freeway. Now, some of Temple Street is a bit dicey as you're going towards the Lodge, but I've never had a problem with the lot itself.

That may be too much of a hike for your father, however.

Most of the lots on Elizabeth St (the street next to the Fillmore) charge no more than $15.00. They are all within a five minute walk to the park.

BOESCH!

8-3 Tigers, bottom 7

Boesch tried to bounce one off the Ren Cen, and almost succeeded.

8-3 final.

Let's see if King Jeremy can keep it going tomorrow.

Thank God for big ballparks. Bonderman has given up some shots today, but they've stayed in the house.

2-0 Tigers, mid 4

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Cabrera just misses #20, but it's 4-0 all the same. :)

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Adam Dunn nearly knocked a plane out of the sky with that blast to right.

7-2 Tigers, top 7

Galarraga vs Dontrelle tomorrow night at Comerica.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

When are you guys going to play someone that actually plays baseball in interleague? Arizona now? Christ!

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Teams in the National league play baseball? Surely you jest.

(59-22 vs. the NL since '06)

The Twins are 58-23 in that span. But we sure pulled the short straw. Atlanta-Colorado-Philadelphia. The pitching is what really drives it home though, with Hudson-Jimenez-Halladay. Ugh.

Not that there is any consoling going on here in Detroit... :D

BUT- the Tigers will go on a 9 game road trip to NY Mets, Atlanta (and the Twins) following the D-backs series. I wouldn't call that too soft. They also lost 2 of 3 to the Dodgers in May and are 7-2 against the NL, including 6-0 at home. Coming out of interleague play 12-6 or better would be nice. The Dodgers are a middle pack team now, as are the Nationals... the D-backs stink in one of the parity divisions in the NL, and the Mets and Atlanta are decent. The Pirates are anemic at best, like the D-backs. I'd say that this was a favorable schedule, but matches the schedule a .500 team should get. Maybe the Twins shouldn't have won game 163 last season. :p

And Miggy strikes out to end the game. You don't see that everyday.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Grrrrr..... and at around five oclock, the Ticket was woofing about how Philly was beating East Dakota Twinkies and that the Tigers could have been playing for First Place in the division tonight......

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Jay Sborz will be recalled from Toledo in the other half of that move. He'll go to the bullpen, and I would guess that Enrique Gonzalez will move into Porcello's spot in the rotation.
