1 step forward...2 steps back. Scherzer looked like Mike Moroth out there getting shelled with so many early runs that they cant overcome them. Baker wasn't even that great tonight.

Still playing good ball right now though. Would be nice to come out of this series with a lead in the division.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

You all better sit down for a minute.

Ernie is gone.

:(

No homer light. No updates tonight.

R.I.P. Mr. Harwell. In the last couple years, we've lost Harry Kalas and Ernie Harwell. Sad.

RIP Ernie. Truly one of the great baseball voices.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Hearing his voice really soothes the pain. It is so wonderful to know how happy he was, even until the end. He had such a great outlook on life. I hope we all take a small piece of Ernie with us.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Condolences on losing an old-schooler.

Unrelated: haven't looked but how is Parcello (I think that's his name?) doing this year. Know he showed a lot of promise last season.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Difficult time in Detroit right now. But heaven added to its riches. Thank you Ernie for all those great memories, for the late nights on the west coast with the crackling transistor radio under my pillow, for that hearty laugh, that indelible smooth voice, all those Ernie-isms, that gentle and soothing way of making life seem so wonderful-over a simple little boy's game.

We all are sad. We all reminiscence. We will all carry on. That is how he would want it. :(

Brenthoven: it is Porcello. And he is getting tatooed this season so far. He's only 21, so there is hope he'll work through his difficulties. The Tigers will need that to have a shot at making the post season.

I hope he figures his struggles out too for my fantasy teams sake :D.

At least the D-Train is actually pitching decently. Perhaps better than Porcello?

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Porcello has been nothing short of hideous this season, his first start exempted. His ERA is 8.03. I can't imagine that they're going to go much longer with him pitching like this before he finds himself in Toledo. He is still 21 years old.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2010: Streaker is going to buy me some beer

Ernie will lie in repose tomorrow at Comerica Park, so that fans will have a chance to say goodbye, and he will be there until the last person goes through the line to pay their respects. There is no public memorial planned, so this will have to suffice.

The score updates and other season-related issues are going to continue, effective immediately. Not that Ernie would care what a fool like me is going to say, talking about baseball on a college hockey message board, but I don't think he'd want us sobbing about him for three days. We can still mourn his death, but the season does go on, whether we are ready or not.

Scoreless through a half inning today.

Anybody else wanna go to that? I'm pretty much free by about one, and would likely be coming from Ann Arbor.
