Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settlement

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

And now Suh goes and gets himself kicked out of the game and likely going to sit another game.

He deserves to be finally suspended. He has been making dirty play after dirty play. That was an incredibly STUPID play. The Lions had a chance to make a stop and get the ball back to possibly get back in the game. Once Suh got tossed, the game was over. The NFL needs to teach him a lesson.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

If I'm Roger Goodell, here's what I do:

I summon both Suh and William Clay Ford to my office for an 8 AM meeting Monday morning. I tell Suh that he's fined $100K for his actions this afternoon. I also inform him that he will be suspended for next Sunday night's game, and he will not be paid for that game. I also tell William Clay Ford that I am taking $100K of his money as well, due to the repeated actions of his player. I am going to send a strong message to team management across the league that this will not be tolerated, and that they are not going to be held harmless for situations like these.

I then tell Suh that if I have to dip into his checkbook again, the fines will start at $250K, and if another suspension is warranted, the bidding there will start at 3 games, also without pay. He has lost the benefit of a doubt. Enough is enough.

I would have to agree with this after getting a good look of what he did on the replay. Its one thing where you give a forearm shiver to the helmet in the process of sacking a QB, but that was ridiculous. In all of the interviews and what not with Suh, he comes across as being a very intelligent young man who seems to be very driven to be the best. But that is just a stupid thug penalty that has no business to be coming from a player of his caliber. Its not needed, its selfish because it hurts the team, and its been one of the problems that the Lions have had. Hell, what's the old saying? Don't get mad, get Even. Odds are that you're going to be lined up against the guy in the next play or two, and there's plenty of good ways to get even with a guy that's not as exposed as say a stomping on a player after the whistle. Beating him silly for big Sack or two is well within the rules and is a lot better revenge anyways.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

If I'm an opposing OL playing against Suh I'd do everthing I could to aggravate him until he demostrates he can keep his cool. Sucks cause he's such a talent and I hate seeing it stuck on the sidelines.

At this point, he'll anything to get under his skin to see if he does something stupid would be in the opposing OL's best interests in stopping Suh. It's really easy to keep him from sacking the QB if he's sitting in the lockerroom for a half. Any OL that doesn't start in on with at least some good Yo Mamma digs on him just ain't doing their homework.

I dunno. Heat of the moment and all. It's not like Suh has met with the NFL prior to this about his attitude/actions....oh wait. Nevermind. ;)

And I wouldn't blame you in the least. If he's going to give you 15 yards, by all means, take it.

Exactly. Some people think I might be being too light. Maybe so, but I would be taking $100K plus a game check, as well as sitting him. And next time the boom falls on him. This would be the absolute last chance for him. I've had it to here with the 1970's Oakland Raider mentality. They didn't get the most out of their talent, either.

Suh should be rewarded because he was against a Packer player :)

Jahvid Best to IR.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

That Packer O-lineman took a dive at Suh's knees after the ball was gone to knock him down to start that situation. That's why you aren't hearing the Packers piously demand justice.

Suh should have just kept bouncing that d-bag's head off the turf for a while.

If Suh gets suspended, I want him to spend it up in the coaches booth staring at Linehan when he goes more than two series without one deep pass to Johnson. He catches 2 td's a game, the Lions are 4-0. When we have Joey Harrington Stafford checking down to the TE for 4 yards over and over, they're 3-4.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

Heard on 97.1 that Suh got 2 games.
The discussion that ensued was whether to appeal or not.
Which games can they least afford to have him out ?

I'd say OAK and GB.

Remaining schedule:

NO - Probably a lost cause. 7-5.
MIN - Should be an easy win. 8-5.
OAK - Could go either way, really. That's why this one is so critical. Let's assume they lose. 8-6.
SD - Everybody point and laugh at Norv Turner. 9-6.
GB - If they're 15-0 at this point, they leave in starters and we get stomped. If not, they rest the starters and we have a chance to steal a win here. Let's assume not. 9-7, last team out in the NFC. But you never know, since Chicago apparently now has a third grader for a quarterback.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

Finally have seen the replay- I was enjoying friends for thanksgiving...

So, Suh reminds me of a 3 year old with his temper tantrum. Especially with his conversation with Schwartz. Dude, you make MILLIONS. grow up.

Oh, and interesting survey on WXYZ- about the penalty. Only 12% thought the penalty too harsh. Over 50% thought it was not enough. These are your fans talking, Suh.

Leaders:
Green Bay (11-0, North winner) - @NYG, OAK, @KC, CHI, DET
San Francisco (9-2, West winner) - STL, @ARI, PIT, @SEA, @STL
New Orleans (8-3, South winner) - DET, @TEN, @MIN, ATL, CAR
Dallas (7-4, East winner) - @ARI, NYG, @TB, PHI, @NYG

Wildcard:
Chicago (7-4) - KC, @DEN, SEA, @GB, @MIN
Detroit (7-4) - @NO, MIN, @OAK, SD, @GB
Atlanta (7-4) - @HOU, @CAR, JAC, @NO, TB
New York Giants (6-5) - GB, @DAL, WAS, @NYJ, DAL

You have to think NYG will lose at least 2 more games, putting their best possible record at 9-7. So they are out of contention for all intents and purposes. Either Dallas or NYG will be out and only the Division winner will make the playoffs from the East.

- Chicago, even with a backup could possibly get as many as 4 more wins, but 3 is more likely. Putting them at 10-6.
- Detroit, if you give them the OAK game, thats 3 wins and 10-6.
- Atlanta is the danger here, if they get the 3 wins you would expect that puts them at 10-6 also. Then it's down to a tiebreaker with Detroit (since CHI already beat ATL).

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

I thought for sure it was going to be 3 games.

After seeing the other multi-game suspensions in NFL history--and it's not like there's a lot of precedent--Suh's is definitely the weakest of the three. I think a one-game suspension with an extra game tacked on for it happening on Thanksgiving with everyone watching and his past disciplinary issues is pretty fair.

He's previously met with the Commish about his behavior. In a new era where you don't have to be proven guilty of whatever to be suspended (see: Ben R.). Where if a receiver catches a ball, and gets hit, it's not a penalty, but if he drops it, it's a penalty. It's a new world, one which I don't understand. 2 games is more than fair, IMO.

Re: Detroit Lions 2011: If I slip and fall, I can Suh and get a Fairley large settle

Suh's suspension has been upheld, per NFL Network.
