I don't understand why Stafford was left in there. He needed to be taken out of that game at the very least to salvage a tiny bit of confidence. Just about every element of that team that had shown promise this season ......was totally dismantled yesterday.

Schwartz has his work cut out for him. Alot damage was done...and I didn't see any leaders on the field or on the sideline.

Carolina was a game on the schedule that I had circled as a win. Is it possibly to recover from a loss like that with a week of practice ?

I'm worried now too. That was their first "prove you're a true contender" game and they didn't prove jack. Had they won that, I'd be thinking of them as a top 5 team and be talking postseason.

Also consider we still have GB twice (granted, they might be resting starters for one of them) and NO as well. I think they beat CAR, though.

I smell 9-7, last team out in the NFC.

That and they're going to need to do a better job of not letting Carolina run the ball all over the house.

ESPN postseason calculator.

It's actually somewhat tricky to reasonably get the Lions into the playoffs if you go by Power Rankings.

Loss to GB, loss to NO, beat MIN, loss to OAK, beat SD, beat GB (assume they're resting starters) = 10-6, last team out in the NFC.

And that assumption about the last game against GB is nowhere near a guarantee. If they're 15-0 they may leave in the starters and go for perfection.

Hell, I said it way back at the start of the season. I would just be happy that they would just be in a position to where they would just be the last team out of the playoffs yet. They still need a few more parts yet to become really good.

Like a quarterback who needs to grow up.......whoops, got one of those already. Seriously, Stafford, a little consistency other than your inconsistency week to week would be nice.

The Oline needs some new bodies, Backus was thinking about retirement last year and probably might only play another year at most I guess. And overall, the Lions commit far too many drive killing penalties as well. I would think that they would be a tough out for anybody if they made the playoffs, but I just don't think they'll quite make it.
