Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

I'd be happy with just stopping all the opinion. News should give events and analytical context, period. Any opinion shows should be labelled as opinion...and even then it would be helpful to take a 'economist' magazine approach of stacking it full of evidence. Too much preconceived opinion (ie this party is bad)...then tayloring opinion to fit that platform and using negative language to deliver it.
In the rarest of occurrences, we seem to agree!:)

Yes, and pretty low on America's anatomy.

I'll admit, I don't follow, and I'm not sure I want to. But given that it's probably a negative view of Soros, I won't complain.

And baby makes three. :)

The workaround is to assume anything printed as "news" may have an intentional or even unintentional editorial tint, and try and correct for the wind.

Soros and Murdoch are in the same line. Soros is just up front about it.

Didn't realize Murdoch is promoting widespread legalization of drugs through vast donations to state ballot proposition proposals, in some cases being the main driving force. Have to google that one on Murdoch, as that doesn't fit what I thought was his interests.

Different lines, same methods.

Yah, that's more or less what I do, though the winds are pretty fierce these days in many quarters. And of course we all gauge the winds a bit differently.

The point is, they're both trying to sway public opinion on ideological issues. Soros does it with position papers, Murdoch does it with propaganda. Same idea, one's just being more honest.

We do. Well put. :)

Position papers? I don't call pouring enormous amounts of money to heavily sway state ballot initiatives (as he's done here in Arizona a number of times, and elsewhere) being merely a position paper. I really dislike anyone who tilts the playing field in the initiative process that was intended to be a way for residents of a given state to get action on issues, but has, to significant extent, become the playground of someone like Soros, who can how get laws he wants by spending heavily to push initiatives through. I don't like that whole manipulation of the process one bit.

Let's not forget dropping several large suitcases full of money on NPR (ironically on the same day they fired Juan Williams for not meeting their lofty "ethical standards") to hire 100 new "reporters" whom we can reasonably anticipate will make John Peter Zenger proud.

Soros is the only billionaire who spends money on politics. The anonymous donations to fringe right wing groups to run dishonest ads against Democrats (and moderate Republicans) is just a figment of our imaginations.

Richard Mellon Scaife is actually the Latin name for a cuddly form of bunny rabbit. Charles G. Koch is a delicious Weißbier.

Defend Soros from what? The guy's a billionaire. If he wants someone to defend him, he can buy a PR firm. :p

I prefer lemonade.

But if you think Soros is the only billionaire to spend his money on politics you're obviously into the hard stuff.

Did I say that? Why would you jump to that conclusion? Of course he's not. Apart from establishing that you have a firm grasp of the obvious, what's your point?

The point is that you only criticize Soros for spending oodles of dough on ballot initiatives etc. Strangely enough, you and your ilk never seem to criticize Scaife or anyone on the right for doing the exact same thing.
