Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

Obama came in talking about being bipartisan, and he made very little effort to be so,

This is absolutely false. He incorporated existing Republican financial and military leaders into his policy-making, and in doing so, watered-down policy was created that did little to address the root issues. If anything, he tried to be too bipartisan, and nothing got done.

Re: Death to the Incumbent! Part Two: Now with more Death.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A handful of McDonald's employees in northeastern Ohio received handbills in their most recent paychecks suggesting they vote for three Republican candidates.

"If the right people are elected we will be able to continue with raises and benefits at or above our present levels," the insert said. "If others are elected we will not."

Subtle

Hush. Just because half the stimulus the GOP whines about was actually tax cuts put in because they threatened to filibuster is no reason to give up one of their best talking points.

A "handful?" We need a special prosecutor.

And if the notes inside paychecks were calling for the election of Democratic candidates I'm sure your opinion would be the same.

Nothing else to do this weekend, eh?

Of course not. Obama is mostly unpopular because the right will never like him and the left thinks he hasn't moved far enough to the left.

Well, if that's the left's attitude, then they can kiss winning any future presidential election goodbye (especially 2012). The country is still center right, and will be for the foreseeable future. Obama arrived on the stage at the perfect time of anti-Republican sentiment without a long liberal voting record trailing behind him, and he still only managed to scrape together a whopping 53% of the popular vote. If the left insists on nominating people to the left of Obama in the future, they may as well go ahead and hang a sign at 1600 Penn Ave that says "GOP Headquarters."

The country is always "center-right," in the way that a snapshot of a golf ball traveling towards the cup shows it never quite in the hole yet. The point of the game is still to get the ball in the hole.

Maine actually has a close races in both congressional districts. I thought the 2 incumbent Dems would have a cakewalk back to DC but that might not happen. It looks like Comrade Pingree is neck and neck Dean Scontras, should be alot of nervous people in her camp. The other race had the Michaud ahead by 20 pts a few weeks ago, now down to a handful.

Feingold 2012!

You mean the reality based community wants things that aren't actually grounded in the reality of possible without doing things that would imperil our democracy? Well, color me shocked. Of course, the reality based community has always been grounded in a fantasy based state in regards to what is possible in this world.

OK... how is G-S republican? Oh, right, they make lots of money. Let's ignore the ties they've made to the democrats and some of their long run policies such as Cap and Trade and Carbon Credit Exchanges.

edit: and if you really think Obama was going to tear the military to shreds then you really are ignorant of the world around you.

So all his failures to fix everything and make everything better like he was supposed to are down to him having a few Republicans sprinkled through his administration? Wow, hadn't heard that excuse before!

Could center right actually do something center right once?

The two major pieces of legislation that were passed under center right rule in the last 10 years accomplished bankrupting of our schools and our treasury.

The administration only recently started to embrace the idea of G-S--Geithner, et al. have opposed it from the start, and did not allow any discussion on it. The reason it's getting support in the administration now is because Volcker was persistent.

And I said nothing about Obama tearing the military to shreds, so I'm not sure what orifice you pulled that one from.

A few in the main policy-making positions, plus the fact that moderate Democrats allowed emasculation of reform in Congress.

And, he has done remarkably well in getting things done in other areas.

Well, those pesky moderate Dems will be gone by January, so no worries right?
