Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Me too...

BTW the end of After the Catch was pretty awesome. Between that and the Seattle memorial that is quite a sendoff for Phil.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Discovery has been advertising tonights show on the radio, a special 2 hour goodbye to Phil. Never heard them advertise the show on the radio before

I was on the road listening to "The Herd" yesterday am for about 4 hrs and they ran an ad once every half hr or so. I thought that seemed a little classless, making a big push for ratings based on a guy dying. :(

I'm somewhat of a johnny come lately to the show (only watched episode for episode for about 2 seaons) but I was pretty impressed with the way it was all handled. This was a show that I did not research outside of the what aired so I had no idea Phil died until it aired so it was all a shock for me. I am curious if for those that already knew if it had any impact on how they saw the end result.

Anyway, it was sad to see him go - he seemed like a very, very good human being both as a leader, teammate and father (as a husband no idea) and clearly the outpouring of affection from those that knew him (rather from fans) demonstrated he was loved and respected. Next season will be very interesting to say the least depending upon what happens with his boat, the Hillstrandts and others.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I knew it was coming, and it still was like a slap in the face. I mean you know, but you dont know until you actually see it.

The way Phil seemed to be recovering so well made it that much more heartbreaking when he died. It seemed like he was going to get better. I first heard the news in Feb when it happened, but watching these episodes has broken my heart anyway.

This is still bothering me a ton. I can't believe I am so attached to people whom I've never met.:(

I've watched the show off and on for the entire time, but I didn't really get hooked (pun intended) on it until last season. Phil was always my favorite, and I have always thought they could have done a show just based on the Cornelia Marie. Especially once both brothers were there with their dad. Next season will be interesting. I really hope Josh and Jake can raise the money to buy Phil's share of the boat.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

And the rest of the Cornelia Marie finds out now. It looked like they all suddenly had a great sinking feeling. Rendered practicaly speechless.

I will echo what someone else said earlier. After watching the raw emotion on the faces of these men, any other show that dares call itself reality should be ashamed of themselves.

It sounds like the storm and all its craziness was hitting as Phil passed. And now the eerie calm 3 hours after he passed. Sounds like the sea may be preparing to become quite angry...

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

The Kodiak needs to get the heck out of there. Holy Crap..they are lucky that pot didnt kill someone.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Jesus, I thought someone was on that pot when it went out over the ocean.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

What an ending. Nice jesture by Kieth there. Putting a pot over the side so "he always has a full one to come back too."

Did they bury Phil's ashes in his gas tank from his bike?

No... last week's "After the Catch" they say that they'll spread them during King Crab 2010.

I was under the impression that many of the fishermen got back for the funeral... so maybe some more timeshifting and/or camera-angling... or that they ceremonially "buried" him before a separate celebration.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

After the last hour...Im glad it seems like this remberance episode might have some more lighthearted moments in it. Need a good laugh after that.
