Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Now that one was tougher to watch then last weeks, can tell all the reactions were so genuine and so heart felt. You could almost see the life sucked out of Sig when he was told.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

No... last week's "After the Catch" they say that they'll spread them during King Crab 2010.

I was under the impression that many of the fishermen got back for the funeral... so maybe some more timeshifting and/or camera-angling... or that they ceremonially "buried" him before a separate celebration.

Ah. I remember that now. Maybe that was the more "public" one for family and friends. Maybe that scattering will be a more private thing.

Agreed. Ooof. :( Mess of tears over here

I also liked Keith's remembrance.

Yeah...quite litterally. It almost looked like he was going to have to be reminded to breathe.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Captain Rick sighting! I always kinda liked him.

I'm more interested in seeing his old man talk....

I am kinda surprised though... I figured by the look of the kids that he married a... err... local.

I can't identify with the way he lived at a younger age... but its always so much true that your work ethic is the ultimate determinate of your success.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I know they wanted to emphasize the show period... woulda liked to have heard more from anybody they could find that worked with him during the 80s and 90s.... building of the legend, etc.

That was really well done by Keith. Was just sad to see everyones reaction, can see how much he meant to everyone in the fleet and that they all are one true family.

They had the memorial for him in Seattle I think that is what you are thinking of. Everyone was there because the season was over. (they showed part of it on After the Catch)

The look on Sig's face when he found out...yikes!

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

The look on the replacement captain's face when he realized that Sig didn't know was powerful too.

Yeah, that whole scene was just...I think we have all been in terrible positions like that and the silence and just mood shift is about as real as it gets. I mean has Sig ever EVER been that silent for that long? The look on Jake Anderson's face when they passed by the CM on the way out...that kid just never seems to get like 2 months off from feeling bad :(

I didnt realize it before, but when they were showing scenes from the earlier seasons you could really see how bad off Phil was at the end. I mean he looks like he gained 75lbs and aged like 15 years!

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I wouldn't work for Keith if he was the last captain on earth.

I was thinking the same thing when he was discussing the difficulties of keeping good greenhorns and was marveling about how Phil had done a good job with 2 greenhorns who were brothers. I also was thinking that when they were showing his boat up near the icepack.

As a captain he is an Ahole, he might be different off the boat but on it, what a dick
