Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Was just watching the repeat of last week's episode. Knowing what happens to Captain Phil, and what has happened since...Jake really needs to grow up.

Yeah ever since Phil had the first health scare Ive felt Josh was more the Captain material. He really matured through that whole experience.

Any other boat and he'd be eating barnacles. I hope Phil follows through and fires him because Jake is just contemptuous at this point.

The Wizard has a bad greenhorn? Knock me over with a feather.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Tonight's Episode:

"When Hell Freezes Over"
The Cornelia Marie runs aground leaving Skipper Phil to face another massive repair.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Interesting to see Bill back... especially as they wiped out in king crab... seems like a good personality.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Not much talk here.

I was wondering if the disapperance of Jake's dad was going to be covered. I figured it would be but wasn't expecting him to keep it a secret from the rest of the crew. I looked around online and hadn't seen any recent information but did see that Jake is trying to raise funds for a reward for info on his dad. Jake and his uncle Chris (dad's brother) are convinced it was foul play. Kieth (dad) was on oxycontin and was getting it from a dealer after apparently becoming addicted after being prescribed it for pain after some injuries. He was last seen leaving to go see the guy he was getting it from.

Lots of foreshadowing into what is going to happen with Phil here. He doesn't look good. Looks like the next episode is probably going to be when it happens.

WOW! Jake. That is not good.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Big news from Jake there. I'm not suprised though. I saw he recently had some troubles with the law and that they were drug related I believe,

Uhh... that's more than not good. That's dangerously ****ed up. I suppose with the tenor of things that isn't really surprising though I think I was more ready to consider it more that he was an immature kid.

For clarification, Laker's talking Jake Harris (Capt. Phil's son), not Jake Anderson of the Northwestern.

Yeah, that was quite an ending. Explains a lot, yeah, but man, Phil just happening to walk in on him doing that. Wow. Not to mention earlier in the show Phil pretty much all but told Jake that Josh was the chosen one and he would be nothing more than a fisherman. I think we all saw that coming at some point, but still...ouch.

Yep. That's what I'm thinking as well.

The Harris boys have to be split up or they're going to spell the end of the Cornelia Marie, drugs or otherwise. Those two cannot co-exist on the same boat. I can't imagine Jake Harris' situation got any better after his father passed, either. Oh, and I wondered if something like this was up early in the episode when Jake was struggling to get out with the rest of the crew.

Josh is smart enough and mature enough to run that whole deal... though it can be understood if he's just disinterested. Jake... it always seems like he wants to be the man without doing it. Yeah, he's doing the crab fishing bit... he's probably good at it (at least Sig said as much on TV)... he just wants it without knowing it.

Then the other stuff. The way he plays his father... he knows how to work his own father and has probably leveraged on that for years to get away with stuff.

Just stupid, kid. Real stupid.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

The best thing that could have happened for Jake was for him to wind up on the Northwestern for a while, assuming he didn't pick up his issues while he was over there. He just needs to get away from the Cornelia Marie. Josh looks like he could hang around the CM for a while, although I'm not sure he's ready to drive the boat. The other one needs to be pushed out of the nest.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Geez, Andy's awfully blase about the ice coming off the crane onto the deck. I'm not sure how he should have handled it, but I'd give him an F for how he did handle it.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Wow...well, wow. That was quite an episode. I'm pretty floored. Wouldn't be surprised if this added stress wasn't a contributing factor to his demise.

Poor guy on the Time Bandit - OUCH, dude!

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I thought it was pretty obvious Jake was using when he was zombie like walking around the deck. That he admitted he is an addict was a bit shocking but the fact that he was one wasn't. (I bet a lot of them are)

Geez if one of the last conversations you had with your dad was how he wanted you out of his life...

i'm going to guess that phil suspected somebody on his boat was pilfering meds... its not like you don't notice that you're going through them quickly especially when you're paying for them.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I took his "I'm an addict" admission as just another play to get into his father's good graces. He really knew how to manipulate Phil. It does put a new perspective on his DUI after Phil's death.

Next week's episode is probably going to be a difficult one.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Oh he is definitely playing Phil. I know enough addicts to know how he is playing it sadly.

If you watched After the Catch Jonathan had to leave the table (because he was breaking down) after they showed a little montage of him and Phil and their relationship. Also he and Keith have made peace meaning that whole fight in the first episode was way overblown.
