Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Andy seems like a decent guy but maybe I want to believe that... Jonathan on the other hand is a tool... Keith may be kidding around... if he's serious then yeah... he needs to be set back a bit... but Jonathan... his kid... trash.

Personally, I think Andy is the bigger d-bag. He is the type that talks behind your back right before he stabs you in it. I've never been fond of Keith, but in just about every business you talk to some one who is employed by some one else in a joking way. It wasn't a big deal until Jonathan made it a big deal. He took a shot at Keith in front of his colleagues and a gave him cheap shot to boot.

Looks like Russ found himself another boat.

I agree completely, but in a way none of these guys are completely clean. I suspect that Keith would have gotten his tail kicked even more if he threw a punch at Jon (Phil held him back.). This isn't over, and I bet it won't be taped, either. All that macho grade school crap (I'm not your friend anymore... don't call my boat unless you are sinking...) isn't real good tv, and it was sure apparent that none of the other captains were going to step in on either side. I'm sure they've seen this before.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I gotta say while parts of the episode were cool, overall it seemed completely staged and fake. (more than usual) I just dont buy that everything that was said and what happened did without a lot of tweaking, you could not have scripted an opening episode better.

Oh and someone needs to tell Keith what a sucker punch is. If the guy is standing in front of you and pushes you while you are in his face that isnt a sucker punch. :p

I agree, and as soon as they discussed swapping of crew members, I felt like I was watching a "made for TV" moment.

I kind of felt the same thing regarding the crew member swap; at least the whole "discussion at the dock" part. The swap itself is something I believe both Phil and Sig genuinely came up with "on the fly" during one of the Captain's round-table episodes (After the Catch, I think) last year.

I don't know about that. Keith strikes me as someone you would not want to mess with. Jonathan strikes me as big bag full of hot air. Riding a Harley and wearing a leather jacket doesn't make you tough. My dentist does it every weekend.

One thing is pretty clear, all these captains are just a bunch of bullies except for Phil who isn't with us anymore. They need some comedy on the show. Bring back captain Eric and the Rollo.

I agree, Keith seems to have Manson Eyes  to a certain degree.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I don't know if I'd get pushed around on TV like that. He was willing to back down because:

1. he was wrong

2. he didn't want to scrap with Jon

I don't care how tough he looks, he got made out to be a chump. Like I said, it isn't finished. These guys don't care, they are all hard core ignoramuses that have more pride than brains.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

fisherman are like this weather it's alaska, the grand banks in the atlantic, or the coast of maine, lobstering... you mess with someone's gear, boat or crew and they "handle" it themselves... h ell, this year in maine, a guy got acquitted after shooting another lobsterman on the town pier over a dispute... he got acquitted, with the marine patrol officer on the pier when it happened!

i guarantee you they have made it a point to not show, but i'd bet most of these guys have a handgun or a shotgun on board as well...

Of course it isnt over, my guess is something happens later on that brings this to a head which is why it was made such a big deal out of in episode 1. I bet stuff like this happens before every season and in every after the catch special but since nothing happens to make it relevant they just leave it out or hint at it. I mean come on, with d-bags like the Hillstrands, Sig and Keith hanging out and having some brews there is no way it doesn't happen.

Keith looked like a chump though, he was caught going behind Johns back then got pushed on his *** when confronted about it. I like Keith but he is as dirty as the next guy.

Sounds like their were some threats before any of this took place. From the media accounts he should have gotten off. Fisherman take care of their own business, right or wrong. You don't go out there and throw traps in the water or you'll find traps cut, or your boat on fire or worse it appears.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

Just watching for the first time, since tax season is now over.

Interesting beginning montage.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

I've never liked Keith at all. He's always seemed like an a-hole weasel to me. I'd bet that had Keith wanted to drop the gloves with Jonathan he would have gotten ****stomped. The Hillstrands don't bother me, and I like Sig. Long before everything happened to Phil you knew he had issues and it likely wasn't going to end well for him.

Let's be honest here. None of these guys are angels.

Very true. But the flipside to that is should anything happen out at sea (as in a mayday) any captain nearby, regardless of their history, will be the first ones to help out.

Usually they will have a 2 AR-15's, a couple of handguns, and 2 shotguns. My buddy runs a sportfishing boat out of San Diego and that is what they take out to sea with them. You never know who you are going to run into in the middle of the ocean.

You would have to be a moron to go to sea unarmed.

Well duh...there are PIRATES!! ARRRRRRRRRR!!! :P

Phil looks horrible in episode 1...I mean he always did but he looks more like it is Opie season than just the beginning of King. If you didnt know you would assume something bad is going to happen to him.

Re: Deadliest Catch: Season 6

The Wizard has gone through how many greenhorns in the past 5 seasons? Do you suppose Keith and the crew will figure out the common denominator, or continue to think they just happen to get all the bad greenhorns (and everyone else gets the good greenhorns)?

Yeah, that's what I think too.

I know that at least one season there were 2 or 3 that were on the boat. None of them of course made it. So in 5 seasons they have gone through an average of over 1 greenhorn per season. I also find it funny that they were all excited to get Russel from the Time Bandit after he was let go...yet he is also on different boat now. Guess he wasnt as good as they tried to make him out to be.
