D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Newsflash: Manhattanville is NOT that good!!!

I'm not say they are good or bad. But there was a lot of emotion out on that ice last night because of the recent history with these two teams.

Similiar to the RIT/Plattsburgh stuff from a few years ago.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Yay for Marian.....beat Finlandia 4-1 tonight
Congrats to the Marian Sabres! It was inevitable with a battle of the winless, but it could have been a tie...

Now, Finlandia -- let's get on the board, you have a point, but you need a WIN! Go Lions!

UWS with the 6-2 win over CUW today. Box shows that Superior dressed 14. Wonder what that's about?

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

3-1 Lake Forest over St. Norbert this afternoon. The Lake Forest goalie was awfully good. Yesterday the Knights had a little of the extra zip in the 3rd period but today SNC spent a little too much time in the box and Lake Forest had the much better 3rd period.

When I look at the NCHA standings it surprises me to see one team near the top and one near the bottom because those were two pretty evenly matched teams this weekend.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Norwich downs Nichols 9-0 today.

Cadets have scored four shorthanded goals this season after not having one all last season.

They have scored more shorthanded goals than they have given up while on the penalty kill (three).

Norwich's Julie Fortier is the first to reach 30 points in Division III this year and is the second player in Norwich history to reach the 150 point milestone. She sits 13 away from Sophie Leclerc's all-time mark.

The smack you were talking about UWSP earlier in the year is haunting your own team, rumor has it! I know the parent I sat next to at the Adrian game was very unhappy because his daughter didn't even hit the ice. He pointed it out to me how favorites were played, especially at Defense. His daughter told him that girls have been told the would make first or second team all league! If that is true how do you tell a player that? Do you know how they are picked? I don't. If its true and other players find out would it cause disruption on your team? His daughter was never told she wouldn't play. I wouldn't be surprised if she is 1 of the 2 that I have heard that quit. Yes, I did get this from a disgruntled UWS parent, but it showed during that Adrian game.

I know how they are picked...the league coaches vote on players that they have seen perform well in the games that they have played. It's not inconcievable that a coach would be able to predict a player or two that would make all conference. At this point I'd be willing to bet that Sheryl Kaskiw will be on the all conference team, should be first team. Graham would also probably be in consideration for 2nd team. Maybe the player asked the coach if she had a chance and Laughlin said yes??

I know that Laughlin has made players unhappy in the past, by arranging lines to ensure one high scoring line, even if it caused another line to be less productive. Or to help one player get better stats. I'm not really around there at this point in time, so I don't know for certain....I see that there are a couple girls no longer on the roster...my guess is that they probably aren't that big of a loss if they weren't playing anyway. Kids are promised things in recruiting based on what the coach thinks they will do, if they don't live up to expectations you can't fault the coach for not keeping his promises. I'm guessing Laughlin's favorites are good players, and his "not-favorites" are not.

Um... I mentioned earlier in the year That after watching UWS play Adrian that they may have the best trio in the league at Defense. River Falls is right there. If you have not seen I game live how do you mention those 2 players and not Schultz, dieketzul or Furkis? Didn't Lane make second team at Defense last year? I need to look that up. I mentioned earlier in the year Adrian had the best pair of Goalies this year, I was wrong it's probably UWS. The best Goalie and biggest surprise is probably Aluia at SN. All teams have termoil, it's how they handle it. It's obvious that UWSP has handled it pretty well so far!! If it's true a couple of players have left the UWS team, lets see how UWS handles it. You must have inside info?

You mentioned defensive players so I just listed defensive players...I was going to put Lane up but didn't. Schultz will definitely be there, De Kiezel and Furkis will get some votes...maybe make the team...but its hard to say definitively with 11 teams in the conference. Sadly I haven't been able to watch many games this year online due to working basketball games on Tuesday and Friday nights and I was working at ASU football games on Saturdays for the early part of the season.

Seymore, it's likely that the Cardinals have forgotten how to get to Pine Valley. Have Houle give me a call and I'll guide them in..

That's a good thing. Who on earth would purposely want to go to that god foresaken, barren, shadow laden, asbestos filled dump...unless they had to??!!:p
