Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

Nobody's laughing.

I'm pretty sure I was.

Respect has nothing to do with the score. It has to do with how you treat one another after the game is over. I have more respect for teams that play their hardest no matter if they win 13-1 or lose 13-1. Not holding anything back is what garners respect. The score determines who wins and loses. Its about having integrity, there is no integrity in saving face.

Say what you will, but most coaches in that situation tend to overplay their 3rd and 4th lines for the balance of the game, and put 4th liners on power play.

Mr Integrity....I'm interested in your response to post # 536.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

I have no idea. It could be any number of things. Chatham's defense was better the 2nd night? Maybe they got tired at the end of the 2nd game? Less shots hit the target?

I wasn't there so I couldn't say for sure.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

With all due respect, playing your 3rd and 4th lines more and shooting from far only is not the same as showing up the opposition. Doing this is even beneficial for the winning team by giving the 3rd and 4th liners more playing time. I think it is much more disrespectful to run up the score and show them "Look how good we are".

On that we disagree. The problem is that the people who feel as you do refuse to even consider the alternative point of view.

For the record, RIT is a very deep team; the third and fourth lines get plenty of playing time as it is -- to the point that I couldn't even tell you who's on what line. 16 players have double digits in points.

Never having played sports, I can't say for sure, but it seems to me that it would be harder to adjust to having to play full-speed and full-intensity against Plattsburgh this upcoming weekend if they changed the way they played when the visited Chatham. Consistency in one's efforts are key to a top performance, or so I thought.

OK. Fair enough... but don't you have the wherewithall to read a box score?

The box score doesn't show where the shots came from, nor does it show how much ice team any individual player got (goalies aside). I wish we had that information. It may have been a situation in which most of the shots were coming from outside.

Ok, my time to chime in here - many of these shots came from two places
#1. Right in front of the goalie/in the paint or Jamming in when the goalie had the puck covered (she crawled out of a couple of piles).
#2. From the blue line right on net where the goalie was completely screened.

If the goalie had the puck covered, they wouldn't be counted as shots no matter who was jamming away at it. Next....

If the goalie had the puck covered, and it was jammed into the goal, it would be a shot on goal, same as any other goal. Don't know if that was the case, however....

Right, I understand that. But 20 of their 23 shots didn't go in in that third period. Something in me kinda doesn't believe that the other 20 all came from either the blue line or by "jamming away"

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

I read both box scores.

You would know then that Chatham only had 9 Forwards and 5 Defenseman and that it would be reasonable to think that the Cougars didn't get better as the weekend went along as you suggest.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

How come Chatham is only playing 18 games this season....would no one schedule them non-conference?
I do not know the answer to this question but might it be part of the sanctions or reprimand from the NCAA investigation regarding Canadian hockey players vs Canadian non hockey students? Maybe someone that knows more about the NCAA problem can chime in.
