D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

I did say Elmira needed to play as well on Friday as they did on Saturday to have been in the championship game. I didn't say anything about how they played earlier in the season. The way they played on Saturday would have given Plattsburgh a much tougher challenge than any other team for sure. It was clear Platty's was going to win as soon as they tied it up against RF. It was no contest. The only question was what the final score was going to be.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

A debate in D1 is the size of the ice surface at UNH which is 200 x100.

Why are we playing on an ice surfaces of a different size in the final fours? The only team in the nation that plays on that size regularly is UNH.

As we know the D3 Final Four was played at Plattsburgh with a much smaller size of 185 x 80, which is a shoe box thus the opposite argument.

I say play it at an Arena with 200 x 85 and we don't have this question.

And why is D3 played at home ice for one of the teams? Money?

I thought most of the WCHA teams played on Olympic size rinks. Anyone know if this is true?

Thank you to the poster who sent me the rep comment "you're a schmuck." I obviously hit a nerve of truth. Too bad. Deal with it.

D3 is played at the home ice for money and draw. It's not big enough right now as a stand alone for places to really want to bid on hosting it, especially if their school isn't going to be in it.

I still wish the collective championship committees would look at a possible combined Division III frozen four weekend in a place like Lake Placid/Minneapolis.

I think this would get the women's game, which has really come a long way and is some terrific hockey some great exposure with a larger fan base being in the area.

Think about getting both the Norwich/Middlebury/Plattsburgh/Adrian/St. Norbert men's and women's teams in the Frozen Four at Placid. It'd be awesome and the atmosphere would be electric.

Everyone plays on different size surfaces all season long. I don't think it bothers the players as much as the fans.

BTW....The ice surface at Stafford Ice Arena is 185 X 85

I think the only way combining it with the men's if both teams from the school are there. Would men's fans attending this years frozen four care about a UW-River Falls/Plattsburgh matchup?

Would it be better to hold the D1 and D3 tournament together. Would the D1wokens fan come enjoy D3 hockey?

You've have to push back the D-3 schedule even more, even if it's just another week.

D3 deserves better than to be treated as an opening act to the D1 tournament which is how they were planning on treating it in the proposal for a combined D1 and D3 men's final.
