D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Congratulations to the Cardinal players, Coach Houle and his staff and the Plattsburgh fans on their three-peat!!! Thanks for a great weekend of hockey.
Best wishes to all for a great off season and hope I get to see you all next season at the East/West!!!

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

One for the thumb for both Kevin Houle and Danielle Blanchard (2 as a player, three as a coach). I hope they start doing to recruits what Pat Riley would do to NBA free agents and just drop their rings on the table...

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

YEah...River Falls is having trouble getting it out of the zone...seems like they are trying to carry it out instead of passing it. I hope they settle down. As long as they keep it close, they got a chance :) I saw a pretty good hook/hold by a Platty player right before that goal though :P :P

Woooo that mighty westernbumblefuk conf. at least Midd kept it respectable.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

he was good...I just thought it was funny that he kept talking about 4'11 Senese

Yeah, but she is quite the "fiery little pepper pot" as Danny Gallivan once said of Yvon Cournyea (sp)!! She's pretty impressive...and also sports a nice 3.98 GPA with a double major (Physics and Math)? Wow!

UNO in Plattsburgh was the place to be tonight...When the girls came in with the trophy it was great to see even people just there for dinner cheer and applaud. When WPTZ showed the highlights it was just electric.

It's too bad Elmira didn't play as well on Friday as they did on Saturday because the championship game was barely challenging for Plattsburgh and it was pretty boring to watch. River Falls was at like an Oswego level at best which isn't enough to challenge a team like Plattsburgh. If RF played Plattsburgh 10 times they would lose 10 times. If RF played Elmira 10 times they would only beat them once and that's what happened Friday. They had their 1 in 10 games victory. It's too bad because the national championship game suffered as a result. Let's face it, how many teams could beat Elmira one day and Plattsburgh the next? None. I wonder if any team has ever beaten both Elmira and Plattsburgh in any given season let alone doing it on back to back days. It would be like the 1980 Miracle team beating Russia two days in a row....it just would not have happened. Of the other three teams there, Elmira was the only team that stood any chance of beating Plattsburgh but unfortunately they didn't get past RF.

I'm not sure anyone was going to beat Plattsburgh this weekend. Elmira? They lost to Plattsburgh by a combined 11-3 in two games at home a couple months ago. Why would they have had a better chance? Both Plattsburgh games this weekend looked similar. First periods where Plattsburgh had the better of play, but the opponent certainly had their chances and the games were close (1-1 and 2-1). The second period in both were the difference. Plattsburgh dominated play and methodically wore the opponent down, scoring 7 goals in both games.

Could this have been a preview of the 2017 National Championship game? Neither team loses much. The rematch would likely be in River Falls, WI. See you in October!

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

The two best teams were in the championship game. Plattsburgh is clearly head n shoulders above anyone else this year and probably will be the next few years.

River Falls dominated Elmira everywhere but the scoreboard. Elmira couldn't keep up with River Falls speed...so how would they keep up with Plattsburgh who was faster. River Falls issue in both games was penalties. They take stupid penalties...and their PK was terrible this weekend.

Regardless of who won on Friday, you would have had the same result on Sunday. The game was good and competitive til the third period. That late goal in the 2nd broke River Falls spirit...and to my dismay from the interviews it was clear they were just happy to finally make it to the championship game. However it was clear that River Falls was a better team than Elmira, Playtsburgh was way better than anyone else and Middlebury was just lucky to be there.

Plattsburgh 4 Elmira 2
Plattsburgh 7 Elmira 1

Spwood both Adrian and River Falls lose little...Adrian should have an easy enough time in the NCHA, River Falls has to get thru the WIAC gauntlet but probably will be there too.

Have a good summer folks.

Adrian has a big senior class next year. There's going to be a ton of pressure from that alone. St. Norbert should be better, and St Scholastica has the goaltending in Hartfiel to take them anywhere they want to go. God knows she drove us nuts. The NCHA will be far from cut and dried next year.

It None. I wonder if any team has ever beaten both Elmira and Plattsburgh in any given season

You have an incredibly short memory...you remember that Perennial Powerhouse Utica???

Utica 4 Plattsburgh 2 (2/13/16)
Utica 5 Elmira 1 (3/3/16)

What are you drinking? RF would beat Elmira 50/50 i bet. How come Elmira has trouble winning when they need to? Lost to Utica in the Conf Semi and to RF in the Natty Semis.

As far as championship games... didn't Platty beat Norwich 9-1 last year?
