D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

D3 Player of the year runner up Chloe Kinsel with the game winner in OT!!!

Bring on Platty!!

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

UWRF stuffs it on a second rebound to win. Great game!

It looked pretty clear on the video replay that it bounced off him over to the Elmira player and then she kicked it in. There was a very clear kicking motion

Agreed. Replay showed she kicked it, after the ref blew it dead. Not sure why he stopped play just because the puck bounced off him.

He immediately waved off the goal. I didn't think he was blowing it for anything other than waving off the goal.

Announcement in the rink was "No goal, the puck deflected into the goal off of the referee".

I had a chance to speak to the goal judge before leaving the rink, and he said it crossed the line without anybody touching it.

Exactly. The puck hit him, play continued, the Elmira player kicked it in, and then he blew the play dead and waved it off.

As for why he blew play dead: it can deflect off of the official, but not directly into the goal, which is what he determined happened.

This clearly wasn't the case from the replays shown.

e: Sorry to sound so huffy. I'm sure the announcement was as you said, and perhaps the ref even did call it that way and got lucky. The replay just told a different story.

It doesn't really matter why...at least no one argues that it should have been a goal. It didn't even appear that the Elmira players were upset about it.

Where's Sacole...I'm sure he needs a hug :)

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Well, whatever explanation the Elmira coach got, he was fine with.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Do you think Cranston is studying that Itica game tape right now? Lol

If he's studying an Ithaca game tape he's way off target. If he's studying any sort of game tape it's too old to be a current game. If he's studying the Utica game via a link then he's on the right track. I'm sure he studied it long before this weekend in anticipation of getting to the final four.

Nah I was watching the video it was a kicked puck. ;)

The puck hits the official, drops straight down, an Elmira player hits it across the crease where the other Elmira player kicks it in. I don't know the rule, but Elmira clearly played the puck after it contacted the official. In fact, two Elmira players touched it before it went in. The second player clearly kicked it in, so ultimately no goal was the right call.

3rd place game tied 1-1 in the first. Elmira scored about 14 seconds in. Middlebury tied it up with a power play goal.

Edit: Elmira up 2-1 after the first.
