D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

I think there is a good chance Adrian was the 2nd overall seed. Also, this is setup nicely for the West to host the FF this year should Adrian beat Elmira.

The announcer called them the 2nd seed if I heard correctly. Plattsburgh is the number 1 seed. It should be at the Ronnie B if Plattsburgh beats Amherst.

I don't disagree with you. However, I can certainly see if Adrian wins, this being the chance for the committee to send it west. They have to either this year or next year per the once in every four years rule.

Adrian men will be at home in two weeks, too, as the likely #1 overall seed in that bracket, too.

I've been in these shoes before, so I don't mean to dig the needle here, but Plattsburgh's arena will be available that weekend.

Good point. If that happens, Adrian will have the same choice Plattsburgh did. We'll see whether they choose a men's quarterfinal over a women's national semis and championship.

Whether it goes west this year or next, I'm hoping it goes to Adrian as it's the only west school I can reasonably drive to...

It also is likely that River Falls was the #3 overall seed, which would put them where they are...or Elmira was the 3 seed and River Falls was the 4. But Falls was likely higher than Middlebury

I'm getting tired of Adrian and the 300 mile rule. Elmira gets screwed again. This has nothing to do woth the loss to Utica, Elmira was going to get screwed this way no matter how this played out.

Its 500 miles...and get used to it...you'll probably be going there next year too :) (if Elmira makes the tourney.) Most of Adrians top players are juniors or younger.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

It's the 500 mile rule and I really don't think Elmira got screwed. They lost in their conference semifinal badly. You can't expect to get any sort of "favorable" match-ups once that happens. Be happy your overall body of work was good enough to garner one of the precious two Pool C bids available.

Also, the NCAA has travel policies when it comes to this sort of thing and there is nothing that can be done about it. If anyone has a gripe, Plattsburgh should be a little miffed that they don't get to play the lowest seed UMass Boston because of the rule that there cannot be intra-conference first round matchups if avoidable.

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

300, 500 it does not matter, it is a stupid rule. The NCAA makes BILLIONS of dollars between football and basketball. It's time to spread that money out.

I repeat the Utica loss means nothing. They were always going to get sent to Adrian because of the rule. So they did get screwed.

Frankly there is not enough of a difference between Amherst and Umass Boston IMHO for Plattsburgh to complain. They will end up beating Amherst easily.

I'm guessing Adrian will have an easy time with Elmira too...heck they got manhandled by Utica. You're just butthurt cuz you have to drive somewhere to watch the game instead of getting your nice comfy seat at Elmira.

Be one of the many western teams that have been left out of the tournament for the past 15 years to save money and then you can complain.

And could this be the reason there is a to be determined on the bracket for the location of the Adrian...WSP men's game ?

Not much of a difference between a 22-2-3 Amherst team (that beat UMass-Boston head-to-head) and the 16-12-0 Beacon team that lost to 8-15-2 William Smith twice? Interesting commentary...

Re: D3 Regional Rankings and Bracketology

Telling you right now Platty better be ready! Amherst has given them fits in the past. I have a troubling feeling in my stomach about this matchup!

It's an opinion, not facts.

Oh yes. All the Western teams are so much better. I can see that now. I have seen the error of my ways.

You might want to check that butthurt stuff before you start throwing it out there.

Don't believe that Adrian hype. They have won how many National Championships?? 0

How many womens titles have the Western teams won??? 0

So feel free to keep your own personal bitterness.

Obviously you haven't been to the Murray lately... lol

As opposed to yours?

Anyway, how is Elmira getting screwed "again"? When was the last time they got screwed?

2015 - home against Trinity
2014 - at Norwich (who was higher ranked)
...

If the FF were at Adrian, I believe it would require 3 flights. Plattsburgh would only require 2. My guess is that Plattsburgh, as the overall #1 seed, would host, although the once every four years rule having it out west could make it interesting.
