D3 Hockey is back!

To call what Manhattanville did back in the day when they were winning ECAC titles hand over fist offering financial incentives is a bit of an undersell. They had 20 Canadians on scholarship. With that said, they should be a lot better than they have been in the past few seasons. Good school, good location, good facility. Yet, they are not very good.

I was just trying to be nice in how I said it but you are absolutely correct in what you said. There was such a wide range of costs amongst the players on the team in those days. You could say they were very creative in how they were breaking D3 rules. The end results were so blatantly evident to any outside observer but I guess their paper trail was quite good in terms of not getting caught.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Not feelin' DIII-Blogger Matt's 3-1 Endicott over Middlebury prediction. But you never know. 5-1 Middlebury.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

I really, really hate going here, but at what point does the NCAA step on here and say enough is enough?

What the scoreboard says at the end of the game is secondary here. This is a player safety issue here. This is two games in a row that DW has gone with 6 + a goalie. This can't go on any further. There's only 7 skaters on the roster in the first place.

Hey, they had 15 skaters last night! Oh, wait -- that's both teams combined. Unbelievable.

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Not sure what Matt is smoking or drinking, but I'll have one! Midd 4-0.

well...it turned out to be a 5-0 final but not off by much. Still looking for whatever Matt was drinking with his prediction!

Lot of games this weekend, but no posts?

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Did they spend the weekend in MN/WI or did they drive back to Adrian and then over to Minneapolis?

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

They haven't been home since they lit out for Wisconsin, probably Thursday morning/afternoon. Thankfully today was MLK day (no classes), and it's only Finlandia at home this coming weekend.

It makes sense to just stay over there. Thats a long way to drive for one game

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Goalie issues in Duluth. Saints goalie quits and is replaced by the school soccer goalie who may not have played hockey before!! Yikes

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

Ahhhh....Kristen/Mr. Hunt! Nice to meet you. It is always entertaining to me when parents come on here after something happened to their daughter and air things about the program they were just removed from or "quit". I saw this and looked at the roster and then last weekend's games. Kristen Hunt was their back up and was listed in last weekend's line up. It seems to me that the coach wouldn't have "gotten rid" of her back up when they didn't have another back up. Based on what I see in stats, St. Scholastica doesn't have any goaltending issues other than the fact that their back up: Kristen Hunt was upset with her playing time. I saw she had been given 4 games (the last one being St. A's and she got pulled after the 3rd goal). So, here we have Kristen/Mr. Hunt (take your pick) posting about St. Scholastica within two days of leaving. News to you Mr. Hunt and/or Kristen...College hockey coaches do read this forum and nobody who has half a brain would want to deal with YOU or YOUR daughter. What a "team player" leaving a team in the middle of their season when they have no other back up. I'd say that's real classy. Then, furthermore...posting something I wouldn't think anybody else would know besides that team. I looked at the St. Scholastica website roster and there is nothing under her bio...so the only people that would know this would be somebody with knowledge on the inside and I would think that nobody on that team would air on this forum for everybody to know that their new back up is a soccer goalie. Well done Mr. Hunt/Kristen. Classy. I looked at goalie stats/game schedule and it looks to me like they don't have goalie issues at all...their starter has a 93% saves percentage and she wasn't given any of the powder puff games. It drives me nuts when parents come on here and "hide behind a screen name" and claim they are "fans of hockey"....it's an open forum for them to post things without saying who they are and complain about this coach or that coach.

Very intelligent post, by your emotional response I assume you have some connection to the team or coach and feel a strong need to jump to conclusions. First I am no relation to Hunt, her family or the team anymore. Second, my daughter played at St. Scholastica and still has friends on the team so I do get updates on how her friends, girls that I have meet, season is going. Third, what did I air about the program other than they had a goalie quit and the replacement has not played hockey. If this new player is ever needed in a game it causes not only her issues but the team as well since she has never played hockey. Frankly I don't care if they put the janitor in net, it does not affect me nor my daughter. I don't recall seeing anywhere in my post saying why she quit, left, or was told to leave the team or any complaining about the coach or school. If I had a complaint it certainly wouldn't be aired on-line. Anyone who follows the team or has looked at their website would see Hunt was removed and the new player added. This post was for information purposes only. Look back at my previous posts, any airing of dirty laundry?? Info only pal relax!! And unless you know me personally and my background in the game comments like "claim they are fans of hockey" truly shows your ignorance. :)

Re: D3 Hockey is back!

To be quite honest, I don't know anybody at St. Scholastica, or anybody affiliated with that program. Though, as a former player, I remember that we always could figure out who certain posters were. I don't even know much about D3 hockey. I have some friends who coach D3. I have only been to a handful of D3 games and have since started following because I was surprised at the level of play. It's good hockey. D1 players and fans who have never been to a quality D3 game should check it out. I am happy to be simply a fan of women's hockey now. I hear stories from my friends who coach and you couldn't pay me enough to deal with the things they deal with.

Based on your reply Canuckwatcher/Mr. Hunt, it's obvious to me that you realized that you made your daughter look as bad as it does. Nobody wants a "quitter" on their team or somebody who walks out on their teammates. I know for a fact you aren't a parent of an alum, because as a proud alum at a different school, my parents nor would any of my former teammates parents who are proud of the place they played at give out information about the place they are proud of like this.

Enough said. I would be willing to bet the program (while vulnerable) is much better off without your daughter. I've been on a championship team and what I do know is that we won a championship because everybody understood their role and accepted coaching decisions that were made. And, if they didn't like them, they did something about it to earn their playing time. Your posts have now actually made me a St. Scholastica fan as I will be curious to see how the rest of their season goes.
