D3 Decisions: Running up the score

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

C'mon guys really...this is a tournament. Let's not confuse same with league play. GF & GA account for position in any tourney scenario. We don't need a tastes great vs. less filling filibuster on this one. Move along...nothing to see here. It's two different kettles of fish.

ummm so think...then sit down.

um *scratches head*...yeah, GF-GA is used in college hockey too in case there is a tie in the standings so your GF-GA argument is also broken. Face it, as of right now, blowouts are going to happen at all stages of women's hockey, players and coaches have said that recently if you even did research. So its time to get your snobby *** nose out of the air because the "Canadian way" just got shot to hell.

Oh and by the way when Men's hockey first appeared in the 1924 winter games Canada outscored opponents 122-3. Also, in 2006 the Canadian women destroyed Italy 16-0.

Ummm Tweedle Dee.... College hockey seasons aren't 17 days long. The Olympics are a tournament. College Hockey is league play. There is a difference.

BTW Thanks for the history lesson but you forgot to mention the most lopsided score in IIHF sanctioned history when the Slovakian Women beat Belarus 82-0 and outshot them 139-0. Betcha that was a hell of a game to watch and I'm sure the team from Belarus learned some excellent life lessons.

Yup, kick a team when their down eh Tweedle Dee and you talk about me having my nose in the air...Sheesh!

I didn't mention it because their not Canadian. Canadians are supposed to keep their scores down according to you because they play the purest of hockey. While I don't think blow-outs are bad the Slovakia-Belarus romping was ridiculous.

The college hockey season might not be 17 days long but GF-GA still has the ability to count in college hockey, so you can stop reaching for a reason why its ok for Canada to rout a team but no one else can.

Firstly I never said I agreed with Canada running up the score to 18-0. I`m sure there will be worse. Wait till the US gets going. They seem to come from the land where running up the score is viewed as OK...almost expected from what I can see from a few here.

...and I'm sure teams like Plymouth State and Chatham are sitting on the edge of their seat trying to figure out if they are in or out based on their goal differential.

Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dumb
Great taste, Less filling

hmmm the tie breaker for Finlandia/Marian in the NCHA is most likely gonna come down to goal differential!

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

There is a currently a 3 way tie in the MIAC for 1st, not sure how the other tie-breakers are layed out but GF-GA could very well decide the seeding of the MIAC tournament.

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

The people calling the game said it best about half way through or less if you were watching it. I think they knew they would be criticized. Too much of the the other side invading the game I guess. Our coach disappoints me but I guess International rules took precedence here. I certainly expected them to back off after the first or second period but in a short series you have to go for the throat. This is not a full season. Go Canada....

You can rationalize the hell out of this any way you want to - we all know it's BS... Hahaha, how do those arrogant words of yours taste??

So running up the score is not an is not exclusive to American college teams. We learned from the best it is after all your game as you point out to us all too often.

So if it is short season or tournament it is OK to club teams by 18.
Do you have the chart that shows acceptable margin vs games played, or do we just contact the Canadian parliment for more information . YOU HOSER

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

I wonder whether China feels better about giving up 12, but scoring one, against the team that comes "from the land where running up the score is viewed as OK" than Slovakia does about learning R E S P E C T in losing 18-0 to an opponent playing "the Canadian Way".

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

Listen if you guys want to go on about the Olympics then go ahead but do it on the threads available or start up your own Olympic Womens Hockey Running up the Score thread. I see no reason to be using the D3 running up the score thread to post Olympic details as they have absolutley nothing to do with each other.

If anybody is grasping on this issue it's you...

If I were you I'd be even more concerned with my team only being able to score 12 against...China and then letting this hockey power house break your shutout. Better hope China doesn't come up against the US in the qualifiers your team might not be as lucky next time.

Sorry but being an American the only hockey we hear about is NHL you guy's still have teams in that league to don't you. So just want to be a good neighbor and understand where the cut off points are in terms of level of games played day of the week and any other circumstance that may be involved in when we need to stop playing so as not to hurt someones feelings. Because we do care. Remember it is your game so you need to be patient with us and educate us on canadian rules.

Hysterical.

Guy makes a post and states "I see no reason to be using the D3 running up the score thread to post Olympic details".

Then the very next post violates his own directive and is back to talking about the Olympics.
