D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Two from Assabet:

Boston University

Jordan Juron.............F.........Middlesex School/ Assabet Valley U19 Red.........(Latham, NY)

Yale

Janelle Ferrara.........F........The Rivers School/ Assabet Valley U19 Red.........(Winthrop, MA)

Any insight on Juron? She seems to have a pretty nice resume of experience.

I asked this question in the Cornell thread, but I thought I'd ask it here too. Can anyone tell me anything about Kelly Murray's game? What are her strengths, etc?

Kelly Murray is one of four hockey playing sisters from Alberta. Logan Murray is at McGill, Maddie Murray is at Yale and youngest sister Eden remains at the Edge School for Athletes in Calgary Alberta.

Kelly is a strong stay-at-home defensman that has one of the best first pass abilites I have seen in a young female hockey player. At 5'9" she is a force in front of her own net and plays with a mean streak that should automatically get her on average 4-6 PIM's per game. Very steady D man with good skating abilities and puck sense. She reads the ice well. Kelly was on the Alberta U18 team that took gold this spring at the Canada Winter Games and has been moved directly to the top 46 camp bypassing the earlier top 84 spring camp as she competes for a spot on the Alberta U18 team which will compete at the National U18 Womens Championship that goes November 2-6, 2011 in Saquenay, Quebec.

Cornell will be happy with Kelly's play but the real diamond in the rough is younger sister Eden. There will be a future feeding frenzie amongst D1's for her commitment...

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Great to see Haley Skarupa heading to Boston College , joining Carpenter and Grieves as power forwards. It is going to be fun to watch those 3 ladies develop under Coach King and Kennedy.

Hey Hux please make some corrections- correct spelling in Meghan Grieves, and Kaliya Johnson is defense, not a forward. Please update your list.

Don't know about Grieves, but I wouldn't call Carpenter and Skarupa "power forwards"...

Yeah, Carpenter and Skarupa are more like "highly skilled, gifted" forwards. Either way, congrats to BC and Coach King!!

Or paraphrased: "Hey Hux please quit your day job so you can better meet the demands placed on you as researcher, writer, and sole editor of the Commitments lists on USCHO" ;):p

The girls are also related to Andy Murray, former head coach of the LA Kings and St. Louis Blues. They are Andy's cousins.

Which in a women's hockey context would also make them relatives of his daughter Sarah, who won a couple of NCAA championships while playing at UMD from 2006-2010.

So now that the rosters for the USA and CAN 18s teams are out, any word on where some of the players are looking to go?
