I hadn't, as yet gone back to the original post. However, given that BU has five seniors graduating, and five recruits plus a transfer coming in, I will need to confirm that those two are recruits and not walk-ons. Also, I am no longer listing Sacred Heart or Holy Cross as their "Commits" pretty much come down to who shows up on campus and trys out for the team.

Good idea as I believe those two will be walk-ons for BU. Possibly recruited walk-ons.

Wasn't aware of the transfer, any chance you can share who that may be?

"I know of at least one case for the most recently completed 2010-2011 recruiting class where the school bailed after the verbal agreement and before the NLI. It left the player scrambling last minute to find an alternative."

Can't speak to the others, but the two BU kids are both scholarship players (likely 1 or 2 for 4 kids), not walk-ons (recruited or otherwise).

With the new rules, would the transfer not have to sit a year. (Unless she is from Niagara). ?

I don't know if the rules have changed yet. I know there was some discussion about changing some of the rules but I don't think those changes if passed would go into effect until the 2013-14 school year. I think the following exception would still apply to women's hockey:

Exceptions for Divisions I and II

If this is your first transfer …

If you have never transferred before from a four-year school, you might be able to use the one-time transfer exception to play right away at a Division I or II school.

To use this exception, you must:

1. Be playing a sport other than basketball in Division I, men's ice hockey in Division I or football in Division I. Note that in football you may be eligible to use this exception if:

a. You transfer from a Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) school to a football championship subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) school and have at least two seasons
of competition remaining; or

b. You transfer from a football championship subdivision (formerly I-AA) school that offers athletics scholarships to a football championship subdivision (formerly
Division I-AA) that does not offer athletics scholarships. Note: If you do not qualify for this exception due to any of the conditions in Subsection 1 above,
you may be able to use the exception if you were not recruited by your first four-year school and have never received an athletics scholarship.
Important Note: If you play Division I baseball, you will not be eligible to use this exception after August 1, 2008.

2. Be in good academic standing and making progress toward your degree;

3. Have been considered eligible if you had stayed in your first school; and


4. Have a written release agreement from your first school saying that it does not object to your receiving an exception to the transfer residence requirement.

I think the most important requirement is the written release. It is my understanding the schools are pretty good about giving a release if you transfer to a school that is not in the conference but that they do not generally give releases for transfers within the conference. I don't know if this is a rule or just a custom.

Just saw on Lindenwood's twitter feed that Jocelyn Slattery (Hugo, MN) is transferring from UCONN to Lindenwood. Should be a solid pick up for the Lions.

UConn seems to be having trouble holding on to some of their higher end kids the last few years. This makes no less than 3 fairly high end kids heading out recently (Weber and Gross being the others)

Three freshmen goalies? That's either going to be fun to watch or kind of scary. Nothing like competition for a starting job, eh?
