D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

NU is the surprise for me. They're a real title contender.

Same. I knew Mueller would help, didn’t know anything about Aurard, I think she’s from France? But I didn’t see the top four getting displaced the way it has. Would love to read a profile about Aurard before the season’s done.

Princeton a bit of a surprise too. Great season by them so far.

I just hope Aurard's season isn't done. That didn't look good.

It was a good example of what was said earlier in the week of HEA refs not having any feel for the game. They'll call all sorts of ticky tack nothing penalties, but then they swallow the whistle on that one. It was inadvertant, but when a player gets her skate outside her shoulders and trips an opponent with a high possibility for injury, including the risk of knee-on-knee contact, that gets called at any level.

I agree, and in fact yesterday I went back to the first page of the Poster's Poll to see how many even had them in the Top 10 those first couple of weeks. Not very many...

Maybe on NU, but a contender does not lose to Holy Cross. Just saying.

Yea but they have some big wins to offset it, right?
Clarkson lost to Vermont last year, as well. Even contenders have bad days. I do take your point though. NU hasn’t played the best of the WCHA yet and to go deep in the tourney they will have to beat them.

Nonetheless NU at third in the polls was not expected by me.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Now 5-2 Eagles after two. Some very pretty goals in this game, but not much in the way of defense.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Maine and Holy Cross tied 2-2

Maine scored at 0.4 seconds to tie the game at 2. They pulled goalie and scored after offensive zone faceoff with 5 seconds left. They got the faceoff because Holy Cross iced it going for the empty netter and just missed it wide from 180 feet away. Game went to OT. Maine did well in OT, but game ends in a tie. Maine dominated in first and OT, but got outplayed in the 2nd and especially mid part of the 3rd. Maine played without Vanisova(their top forward), but still this is a case of underachieving again. Rookie Tedenby stepped up and scored two goals for Maine. Holy Cross goalie kept them in the game early after Maine peppered her with shots. It was a very entertaining game.

Brutal defense on the 2nd NU goal buy my goodness BC has been a revelation today. If this is them figuring things out, they'll be just fine.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

And the goals keep on a coming, now 6-4 BC with 13 minutes to go.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Princeton scores on a breakaway in the last 20 sec of period 2 and leads 3-1 over Colgate.

Clarkson has goals from Gabel (2), Pezjlova (2) and Cianfarano and leads Union 5-0 after 2.

If Princeton holds on for a win in this one it will be quite a weekend and will be interesting to see where they are ranked (esp with NU split with BC)

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

After one, Minnesota leads Minnesota State 2-0. Goals by Williamson and Zumwinkle, just 0.4 seconds before the buzzer sounded. The announcer kept calling her "Zoomski" until finally correcting himself just before she scored.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

SLU and RPI going to overtime 2-2.

That was quick! Blake Orosz scores 11 seconds in, to give RPI the win. Orosz is becoming known for late-game heroics. That moves RPI to 5-5 in ECAC, tied with SLU.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Colgate gets 2 goals in the 3rd to tie it at 3-3 then Princeton scores with 1 min to go and then Colgate scores with 9 sec to go and the game is 4-4 headed to OT.
Clarkson wins 6-0 Gabel with the Hattrick
RPI beats SLU 3-2 in OT
Cornell 2 Quinnipiac 1
