Covfefe-19 The 12th Part: The Only Thing Worse Than This New Board Is TrumpVirus2020

Why not? You either take the test or you don't board (or aren't allowed to enter the country at the destination). This is just like the airlines' mask policies. In fact, it's actually easier to enforce.

Because Americans don't do stuff like that. Hell Americans throw a fit about wearing said masks. The problem isnt the test it is us. (not me and you but our selfish ******* culture here)

Maybe if we tied it to terrorism...

This is AmeriKKKa God Damm it. We don't need no fucking masks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. They need to be everywhere. Even with their reduced accuracy compared to PCR tests (and the issue is with false negatives, not false positives), the ability to run them nonstop means you could be tested multiple times per week if necessary. Maybe you're sick and the first test misses it. But will the second? Or third?

It's standard to get tested at the airports in Germany when you return from a risk country. But you also have the option to do it for free regardless of where you went. You get results in fewer than 12 hours. Obviously, it takes 3-4-5 days for a positive test to show up after exposure so you get an additional test a few days later. Also for free. With a moderate quarantine in between the two tests, it's been successful so far.

I'm talking about the rapid antigen tests that give results in 5-15 minutes, but same idea.

Please don't, based on stories like this. I don't know for a fact they are planted by the airline industry, I just know it.

The death stick industry and the oil industry also spend millions on "studies." Purely coincidentally, the results always help their bottom lines.

Please do not die for someone's share price.

Before my current gig as a corrupt, leg breaking union boss, I worked in the airline industry. Believe what you want, but based on what I know, the article rings fairly true. I will say I believe the air on any modern jetliner is probably no worse than that in many office buildings, and likely cleaner than on ones with older HVAC systems.

Now I have a question for the medical professionals here: Has there been any data collected on whether or not self administered covid-19 tests are any more or less accurate than ones where the professionals are doing all the work? My two tests have been ME shoving that swab up into my brain, not someone else, then agitating it in the vial and sealing it up myself before dropping it into a collection box. Both times I was assured by the NP observing I was inserting it plenty far enough, and followed all of her instructions properly. It isn't exactly maneuvers that requires 12 years of education and practice, but I'm still left to wonder. When that swab starts to hit some resistance it is only natural to flinch a little bit. The first time I generated a lot of tears, and my eyes watered for the most of the 25 minute drive home. This time, they watered, but just barely, and were more or less dry on the same drive home.

Not Americans. The Right, who are less and less American with every passing treason.

Comrade, how have I missed you at meetings?

No Kep, Americans. There’s plenty of selfish f-s on the left too.

Sure, but no more so than any other nation. American liberals are as selfish as somebody in say France or Turkey. Humans are selfish.

The American Exceptionalism of Selfishness is rooted in the sociopathy and idiocy of our Right.

You know just because you say things doesnt make it true right? ;-)

Or is it your belief that the Anti-Vaxxers are Right Wing morons because if that is the case I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you...very low interest rates to boot!

People are selfish and Americans all over the spectrum take the cake of "I want what is mine". I live in one of the most liberal areas in the country and plenty of non-Righties have all sorts of issues with the COVID restrictions because it causes them pain. Parents want their kids in school and want things opened up...and most of them wouldn't vote for Trump if he literally paid them.

The American Dream is a disease.

Absolutely there are liberals that want to "fight the power" when it comes to restrictions from Covid, but as a % of their whole base? It's nowhere close to being on the same level as the knuckle-draggers.

Anti-Vaxxers are IINM split between loony Lefties from Marin County and loony Righties from the trailer park.

My point is the percentage of Dems in Marin County is smaller than the percentage of Righties in the trailer park. The super-selfish are predominantly Right.

Take religious fundamentalism as an analogy. Out there somewhere is some guy who wants every person to be an atheist or at least take away the rights of those who aren't. OTOH, the Right has millions of people who want to force everybody to be a Thumper or at least take away the rights of those who aren't.

There is no comparison between the threat of the two sides. The Left has a head cold, the Right has cholera.

How many of us know that is pronounced mrrrrRIN county?

How many people know that's the other end of the Golden Gate Bridge?

Since the '89 earthquake nuked the Bay Bridge, probably a fair number. Before then everybody thought the GG went from SF to Oakland.

To be clear...I am not saying the Right and Left are equal in numbers just that saying only the Right is the problem is tunnel vision of the highest order. The problem is 99% of the Right is problematic and like 10% of the Left is.

65 / 5. But same deal.

Contact tracing in this country is still pretty much hit or miss. When I had my first confirmed exposure to someone who subsequently tested positive (and incidentally has had symptoms for well over a month now) I was contacted by people from both county and state health departments in WI. But since my exposure to two other people who subsequently tested positive in Illinois, I have not heard from anyone alerting me that I was in close contact with people who were confirmed positive. One of those folks is quite sick with extreme fatigue, a heavy cough, initially a high fever, and later on when he felt like it realizing his sense of taste and smell was gone. I know for a fact had either of these people been asked, they would have provided my name and contact info as someone they spent time with in close proximity.

Like a lot of other things, we are in the bottom 10% of the world when it comes to our response to COVID-19. Among our many faults, one of them is far too many of us have our heads in the sand. We are an embarrassingly weak nation.

Me! My half-brother lives in Marin County. He’s from southern Illinois, so he started out R before moving out there ~20 years ago turned him into a D. He said he voted for Gore and hasn’t looked back.
