Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Congrats to Cornell.

Only way they miss NCAAs now is either
(1) they blow this lead
or
(2) they lose the ECAC final and one of BU/Providence/Bemidji/OSU wins two games this weekend.

If form holds, they could be headed back to Mercyhurst, just like the season began.

Sweet!

Cornell had a second goal waived off. Said it was kicked in again. Didn't look that way to me, but once again I didn't see it that clearly.

RPI is making a push. Scored a even strength goal mid-way through the period than got a PP goal. They decided to pull their goalie to go with a 6-4 skater advantage. RPI just scored another to make it 5-4 with 1:30 left. Cornell has called time out. We looked to have started to rest on our laurels for the second half of the third.

And Cornell hangs on for the W!! Hope Cornell learned a lesson from this. Great game RPI and congrats on a good season, exceeded expectations once again.

Oops almost

Now let me add one caveat. I just noticed Clarkson is a common opponent of BU. If Cornell loses Sunday, they drop the comparison with BU by a thread, regardless of what BU does this weekend.

This would put a bunch of teams in a many-way tie for 8th with 9 comparisons won. I expect Cornell would be safe because (1) they have the best RPI, and (2) they still win a lot of those head-to-head comparisons with the teams they'd be tied with. So I expect Cornell would still get in.

Of course, the only way to be sure is to win Sunday.

Attendance for this evening game was listed at 1046. Hopefully that will expand for Sunday's game and carry over into next season.

I've been on the Cornell bamdwagon all season in the prediction contest. No reason to change that now....

Final score prediction 3-1, with the last goal into the EN. After the game the other day, I'm sure the Big Red will be ready to play 60 minutes tomorrow. :)

Man, can't get anything for free anymore. Oh well, it's our first attempt at a title, I guess I'll pay. LGT!

Video quality's actually good, although the camera is apparently mounted somewhere in Binghamton.

It holds about 4x that amount. I think official capacity is something like 4,300 give or take a little.

4267, not counting official standing room or unofficial standing room (a.k.a., loitering).

The quality is pretty decent, not as good at the Clarkson broadcast, but not horrible like Brown's. The announcer needs a 5-hour energy.

I think it's his first try. He knows the players' names and he's not obviously inebriated, so that's better than a quarter of the men's broadcasters right there.
