Two great games this weekend in Erie. Big Red comes from behind Friday night to beat the Lakers 5-4 and Saturday the Lakers return the favor by coming from behind to down the big red 5-2.
Rubber match Feb. 7 at Lynah. Hoping to drown out that nasty marching band with a throng of Laker faithful that day - weather permitting!!!
Will def be a good one.....but it takes a lot to drown out the Big Red Faithful!!
Meanwhile, it was great fun meeting MattJ and family before Friday's game. After exchanging a few friendly barbs online these past couple of years, it's always fun to put a face with the name and have a little hockey chat over a nice tall cold one. I'll now have to remember to check college rosters 18 years from now to see if little Ms. MattJ is lacing them up somewhere, unless mom gets to send her to Broadway first?
These were two very exciting and hard fought contests, which bode well for the anticipation of the rubber game. That game comes not too far from playoff season, and may mean something for both teams in terms of Pairwise etc.
As my new pal MattJ said as he was leaving on Friday night, "good luck in the next one but not too much luck" (it backfired on him, but... maybe I can get away with it? )
I had a chat with the Ice Operations Director over at the MIC. The sound that's presently in the building is part of a temporary system while they are working to repair and improve their permanent system. I think they mean to have it back up and running in early January.

Matt, I think you were sitting near us on Friday night! And by the way, Ice, there's nothing wrong with doing Broadway and hockey!!!
We probably were. We were sitting in the section of mostly Cornell fans. Our daughter was the youngest in attendence that I could see. There were a couple of kids in the row in front of us.
I'm quite confident our daughter will do both.
Yup, we definitely saw you there....she's so cute!!
Thanks!
I certainly have! Other than a slow start in the first period against Quinnipiac, I have been very pleased with Cornell's performance. It was a great game against Princeton in particular this weekend. I look forward to viewing Tuesday's game against Syracuse, assuming it will have on-line video coverage.
Also, it appears Cornell has another high-end forward committed for 2012-2013, which is great.
Cornell earns a 2-0 victory in their first test this weekend against Harvard. Mazzotta played great in net, and it was all around one of Cornell's best defensive efforts this season. I would have liked to see more offense from Cornell (only took 14 shots on Harvard's goal), but Cornell seemed more content to focus on defense in this one.
The saying goes the Defense win championships, so IMHO their "Focus on defense" is the right approach.
