Cornell Big Red 2011-2012

Re: Cornell Big Red 2011-2012

Sweet! Thanks! Next time I have a couple days off....!

Okay - I'm just about to start watching the game, albeit as I do some house cleaning and prep for departure to Duluth. Hope I don't get all caught up in it and miss my flight...day after tomorrow!

So did you get through the entire game yet?

Re: Cornell Big Red 2011-2012

Thank you to the players and coaches on a great season! It has been a joy watching you play this year. A special thank you to the graduating seniors, Rebecca Johnston, Chelsea Karpenko, Kendice Ogilvie, Amanda Mazzotta, Catherine White and Amanda Young. It has been an absolute pleasure watching you play over the past four years, and I'm sure you all will accomplish great things in the years to come.

I was pulling for you tonight, Mattj711. They brought it in the second. Hoping for a lucky bounce. NEXT YEAR!

Thanks! Minnesota is an excellent hockey team. While it is disappointing to lose, it's great to see hockey played at that level. Cornell is graduating a ton of talent, but they are retaining a bunch and with another grade A recruiting class coming in, I fully expect them to be back in the thick of things next year.

Nice article....Interesting closing lines to see how a few years of succes changes the interest in a program.

"It's great to see the amount of girls playing," Johnston said. "When I was at Cornell, my first year, we had 10 people in the stands that were probably all parents. Mind you, we weren't that good.

"Now, in my last two years, we would get a couple of thousand fans to every game," she added. "It just makes me really happy and excited that people actually want to watch women's hockey."

"Now, in my last two years, we would get a couple of thousand fans to every game," .

According to their website they averaged 920 this year including the Frozen 4 home game, still a great storyline. Probably felt like a couple thousand by comparison to the past. Hoepfully the support keeps growing!
