If you block the highway, then you need to accept the consequences of that illegal activity. Don't assault the police because they're doing their jobs.

Of course. You do the whole limp non-violent resistance thing and make the cops carry you off physically.

Re: Cops 3: Shoot low boys -- they're ridin' Shetland ponies!

Stop trolling...you arent funny or creative with it and you just sound like a ******. Attacking cops is not the answer.

A-****ing-men.

Both sides need to learn the concept of de-escalation (is that how that is spelled?).

And that is a serous challenge when our source of our information is a 24-hour, highly competitive media circus in which old standards requiring independent confirmation of sources have been replaced in many markets with gotta-have-it-now sensationalism. The surfeit of independent sources is a wonderful thing, but it's become a roomful of toddlers screaming for attention, and it is difficult to scream for attention in a calm and well-reasoned manner. Unless, of course, you are a fair and balanced news network.

This. No symbolic arrests (which was an issue that came up last night, and I find that sickening). Pay the price for your actions.

Got word from my dad (who helps the Salvation Army, who is setting up canteens for the SPPD this week) that another protest is scheduled tonight. They will end up in Ward 4, which is where the protesters basically lived on the street for a couple weeks after the Clark case here.

I really don't have a good feeling about this.

Seems like a good night for a strong thunderstorm to drive everyone to cover (and maybe cool things down for a night).

From what I was told, they have protests planned every night this week; I'm not sure where exactly, other than tonight's.

Re: Cops 3: Shoot low boys -- they're ridin' Shetland ponies!

We keep finding exceptions in the legalese of the laws we have. The most obvious are the loopholes in the laws, as I have mentioned. Private sales, internet sales, gun show sales. BACKGROUND CHECKS, unless this, this, or that. Or what if I sell a gun to my dad? Go ahead, no worries.

But that's the way the laws are written. It's not that they're not being enforced, they're just weak. We need to change those laws, make them stronger, eliminate those loopholes.

Re: Cops 3: Shoot low boys -- they're ridin' Shetland ponies!

Bigotry in all shapes, colors and sizes gets passed from one generation to the next, but I am encouraged by our children who, I believe, simply do not see color, gender, or sexual preference as a primary identifier as much as previous generations did.

children never do. it is their parents who instill these 'values' in them as they grow.

Actually that would be good. Let the protesters and cops stand in the rain and follow out the protest scripts, but chase off the lookie lous (sp?).

Hopefully the escalation has given everybody on both sides pause. I'm sure the bulk of the protesters are good people who want to make their point and socialize their complaints, and the bulk of the cops are good people who want to do their job and ensure nobody gets hurt.

Too many people are treating this like a movie. This is real, the gripe of the protesters is very important and should help motivate significant changes in how policing is done. The attacks on police are making it easy for the type of people who want to deny anything is wrong to change the subject.

SPPD saying cop who had concrete block dropped on him has a broken vertebrae.
Hope they find who did that.

Just saw that. Hope he can make a full recovery, although it may be unlikely.

Uh, correction. Internet sales must go through an FFL. I can't just order a < firearm here > and have it shipped to my house. It goes to a local, licensed FFL and they run the FBI check before they hand it to me.

Whoever threw that block should be in prison for years. Hopefully they find the bastard and throw the book at him/her.

Hopefully that would happen no matter who they crippled.

And then we have this:
CollegeHockey.info ‏@USCollegeHockey
Hockey leads in NCAA graduation rate (92%), while just 2% of college hockey players are black. Any correlation? #BlackLivesMatter
