Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Looking at where Gameday has been and who lost today, I would say they go to Eugene next week...

That's the best game, but I'd bet on being at the Red River Shootout (rivalry my arse) because it will be on ABC/ESPN. Right now, Stanford/Oregon is schedule for 11:15 eastern, and Gameday in the last two years has gotten into the habit of pretending games outside the ESPN family don't count.

Edit: I could be wrong. Wonder if they'll try to talk them into moving it to 8pm and sticking it on ABC.

The Gophs might just as well fire Brewster immediately, bring in someone that can teach players to tackle and let the offense draw up plays in the dirt.

It takes a real talent to be a worse coach than Bob Babich.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Looks like Ryan Mallet realized that he's going to be the Bills QB next year because he threw 3 picks and got sacked a bunch. He'll fit into Buffalo's offense just fine. :D

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Oh look, another unprovoked MN shot by Pricey. Apparently someone in maroon and gold peed in his Cheerios a few years ago.

Are you going to try to tell us the football team is good?

No one in their right mind would claim they are good (hey, way to point out the obvious) and you should save the crying picture for you and the chip on your shoulder.

Woah, Stanford jumps from #16 to #9 in the AP poll... for beating Notre Dame? Have the voters seen Notre Dame?

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

That's nothing. SEC play has begun, which means the incestuous idiocy of overrating SEC teams, then only dropping them 5-8 spots when they lose to their highly ranked brethren has begun. South Carolina? Still #19 after losing to Auburn despite beating 1-3 Georgia (but they were ranked at the time!!!!!!!111oneeoneone!), Southern Miss, and Furman. They'll lose to Alabama next week, drop to 27 and out of the poll, beat Kentucky, Vandy and Tennessee to get back to 18th, just so they can be a "ranked foe" beaten by Arkansas and Florida the next two weeks.

****ing stupid. Their elite teams have been better in national title games, but the rest of the conference has been *** in most bowls, or they'd manage better than .500 vs. a Big Ten that's been down the last five years.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

The only thing worse than the so called arrogance of the SEC is the attitude that they aren't the best conference every year--they are.

they ran up the score!!! they kicked a fg with a minute left when they were up by a lot. everyone knows the good teams keep piling on.

it's natural. ;)

Clearly, you need some more SEC haterade. That sort of equanimity is unacceptable around here. ;)

Except they weren't the best conference last year, they just had the best team. They went something like 7-7 in non conference games against other BCS conferences despite playing more of those at home or "neutral" site (VA Tech- Bama in Atlanta)

even this year they're stellar OOC record is solely the result of beating up the Big East and ACC, while going 1-2 (sample size I know) against the Pac/Big 10.

The Notre Dame team with one win - against Purdue, right? The same Purdue team that just lost to Toledo?

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

#9!

Though I'm more than willing to admit that was done largely to make next week's Stanford-Oregon game a top 10 matchup. But 4 years ago we were 1-11 and the highlight was if we would manage to score an actual touchdown in the game. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you don't care for Harbaugh as a person tough patooties.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Can either defense slow down the other team's offense? Last year was a 51-42 Stanford win...
