Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Zay Richardson and Josh Keyes. Two names to keep an eye on. Both running backs. The only thing holding Richardson back is his size. He's only 5'6, 160 pounds. Two weeks ago he had five carries for 297 yards and FIVE touchdowns.

Kinda sounds like Nick Davis, of Manchester, MI, who ended up playing for Wisconsin. Fastest **** white boy you ever saw. Tore Clinton High, my school for 54 points his senior year, my junior. That wasn't a fun night at all. Best bet we had at stoping him was to throw ourselves down in front of him and hope he tripped going over us.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

So last year when Stanford traveled east to play Wake Forest, the game was at noon local time, meaning it was 9 am on the west coast. This year, at Stanford, the game is at 8:15 pm local time, meaning it'll be 11:15 pm on the east coast. Gotta love the teams messing with each other's sleep.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

There are two reasons: TV exposure and chances of competing for the national championship. Actually, there's probably a third reason. How is Syracuse ever going to compete with West Virginia and Louisville given the academic differences between them? There's a reason UNC isn't winning ACC football titles (and a lesson in what happens when they "try," see also Northwestern).

Note this is A Good Thing. College football has always had a wink and a nod towards "college."

I think SU also needs to build BACK it's reputation of being good in football. NC or not, the first step would be getting back to a bowl game - ANY bowl game.

What's the name of the silly "Best East Football Team" award and when was the last time SU won it?

Edit: Lambert Trophy. 1992.

Penn State must need a separate trophy room for all those Lambert trophies it has won. Just shows how dominant they've been in that part of the country.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

USC is so bad I'm not sure that's an upset. (They'll still beat Notre Dame, though.)

USC lost most of their depth when the NCAA gave all the juniors and seniors a get out of jail free card, then lost their top recruit to Miami when Kiffin released him from his scholarship.

Somehow Kiffin is this terrible person while his successor at UT helps his players get away with assault and refuses to release two of them from their scholarships making them pay their own way at new schools. (Also intentionally lied to the media to depict Brown as a player who didn't talk to his coach before leaving.)

USC rolls. Brewster will make Kiffin look like Belichick.

I'm pretty sure Kiffin's a terrible person because he and Calipari are in some weird contest for breaking the most rules.

Anyway, an evaluation of Kiffin's honesty is not affected by his successor's, just as Carroll's isn't by his.

(I don't actually think USC will do all that badly. Like an SEC power, even if you stripped them to the bone they'd still go 6-6).

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Someone forgot to tell UMass that they were brought into the Big House to be an easy win for Michigan.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

And Michigan's kicker still can't kick.

To be fair, this is a new kicker that can't kick.

They definitely pulled their *** out of the fire at the end of the first half. Expectations had gotten way too high for Michigan. They're still not a great team. Good team might even be a stretch given what they've got defensively. This probably brings things back down to earth a little bit.
