College Football 2022: “Here’s a twenty, bury two.”

I think there’s plenty to be interested in, at least to start the game. Vegas has its largest line ever for a championship game. TCU has only been in P5 for a decade, fired their head coach last year, only had five wins, and were projected 7th in the Big 12.

Recruiting rankings for the last five years average out to Georgia averaging the #2 class and never under 4, while TCU is averaging 35th and as low as 54th in 2021.

No, it’s not a G5 like Cincy crashing the party, but it’s the next best thing. They weren’t all that great in the SWC, didn’t get invited to the B12 initially, played their way in through a decade of success in the MWC to get an invite, and now they’re here. This would be the summit of a 25 year climb after getting kicked to the curb.

I told my friends at lunch that I planned to watch the game until TCU is down by 17. I hoped to watch into the second quarter.

Does it? They gave up 45. Change a review result and don’t run a trick play and they give up 59.

Yea, they stuffed the run a lot better early in our game. Now it looks like they did later in the game. I'm betting GA will let up a little to not score over 60. And they did a lot better job reading two of the pass plays.

And if they start just running, TCU isn't going to have enough possessions to make this up.

Tie goes to the offense. But that was a great catch. I would have thought GA would run out the half to score, but they are going to run this up. Making friends that way.

TCU isn't playing to win anymore. With 10min left in the 3rd quarter, they are down by 38. If they manage to score 8 points per possession, that's 5 possessions to win. Let's say TCU calls all three TO's on one GA possession, but GA runs the clock on the rest, and they go 3 and out. That's 10 seconds for one possession, and then 30 seconds per play (which is short), that's 1:30 for the other 4, or about 6 min of clock, right? Leaving TCU 19 min for those 5 possessions. They are nowhere near scoring each 4 min based on the running plays they are doing.

They gave up.

UGA spent the entire second half running first and second down and still outscored them 27-0.

TCU had nothing to stop their passing game. UGA could’ve put up 90 if they wanted.
