College Football 2021: Cash is King

Finally went "bowling" and caught the 2nd half of the Pitt/State game. Thought Pitt was at least gonna tie it and send it to OT but it wasn't meant to be. I did read that Oregon got punked.

Something to root for (and I understand that few will root for Michigan, but lets go with it)

Right now, if the B1G wins one more bowl game, they will guarantee a winning bowl record (5-0 right now). If the SEC looses one more, the best they can do is .500 (1-5 right now). I'm betting that most here really hope that the one more SEC loss will be bama- as I'm going to guess that most people love underdogs and have nothing to say really bad about Cincinnati.

Michigan still going to compete today? I figured with that Hill kid out, they might just pack up shop and head back to Ann Arbor to play checkers with the hockey team. ; )

So the Cotton Bowl hasn't gotten out of hand, yet. Cincy has done a decent job making bama uncomfortable- but just can't get it over the hump when they have bama's offense backed up.

If they can get the offense running, maybe they can keep it close? For sure, they have looked light years better than MSU back when they had their chance- so hopefully this won't be the last time we see a G5 team before the expansion of the playoffs.

No.... It looked that things had started to turn at the beginning of the 3rd, but they could not translate that into a significant change.
It was like watching Charlie Brown try to kick the football. Every play a run, somehow expecting it to work against an SEC D Line

This is convincing me we're gonna get Bucs versus Pats in the Super Bowl. The game's the same, only the year has changed.

The only solace from that game is that we way outscored State when they were embarrassed. Otherwise, that was embarrassing.

What will be interesting to see is if Michigan "rebounds" from a Playoff "embarrassment" (which I have defined as a loss by 21+ points):

2014: Florida State (Beat by Oregon by 39 points - Went 10-3 the following year - missed Playoff)
2014: Oregon (Beat by Ohio State by 22 points - Went 9-4 the following year - missed Playoff)
2015: Michigan State (Beat by Alabama by 38 points - Went 3-9 the following year - missed Playoff)
2016: Ohio State (Beat by Clemson by 31 points - Went 12-2 the following year - missed Playoff)
2018: Notre Dame (Beat by Clemson by 27 points - Went 11-2 the following year - missed Playoff)
2018: Alabama (Beat by Clemson by 28 points - Went 11-2 the following year - missed Playoff)
2019: Oklahoma (Beat by LSU by 35 points - Went 9-2 the following year - missed Playoff)
2020: Clemson (Beat by Ohio State by 21 points - Went 10-3 the following year - missed Playoff)
2020: Ohio State (Beat by Alabama by 28 points - Is 10-2 the following year- missed Playoff)
2021: Cincinnati (Beat by Alabama by 21 points - ???)
2021: Michigan (Beat by Georgia by 23 points - ???)

No team has been embarrassed in the Playoff and returned the following season, including the Playoff Powerhouses of Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State.

Will Michigan or Cincinnati be the first to do so next season? We will see.
