College Football 2021: Cash is King

OK state losing is about the only outcome Cincinnati needed to see, beyond winning their own game this weekend (I know it's ongoing).

I don't see any other big impact games to their CFP hopes.

ND was watching that game too. Bama loses and I believe Brian Kelly is gonna get it stuck up his a*s when ND goes to the playoffs.

No matter what happens later today, I sure hope Cincinnati wins- the only team that can possibly claim to be in was beaten by them. So win and in.

And I'm betting ESPN is praying for Georgia, Michigan and Cincy to win, so they can spend a LOT of time talking about the 4th team in- as it will be a 2 loss team or Notre Dame left. And Notre Dame's best win isn't in the top 20 anymore.

(and I hope Michigan payed attention to the favored team losing)

It would be an interesting conversation if UGA, UM, and Cincinnati all win. Your likely contestants for the final Playoff spot would be:

Notre Dame - Went 11-1, with only loss to Playoff team. However, no conference title and no wins over a Top 25 team.
Baylor- Power 5 Conference Champion. 3 wins over Top 15 teams. However, two losses, including a loss to a losing team (TCU).
Alabama - SEC West Champion with only losses to Top 25 teams (including to top team in country). However, two losses, and no conference title.

I can't imagine that Ohio State (2 losses, not even in conference title game), Ole Miss (see Ohio State), or Oklahoma State (just lost to Baylor) would get much consideration.

Now, what would be real chaos is if Michigan falls on its face.

The chaos if either or both Michigan and Cincy lose. Especially if Georgia destroys bama.

Just give the title to Georgia at that point?

I think if Cincy loses, they are done. They shouldn't fall behind Notre Dame, but they would.

I would guess in your scenario, we'd have:
1. Georgia
2. Notre Dame
3. Alabama
4. Baylor

The thing about that sign is every UO fan would agree. Not only do we always lose at the wrong moment, but Nike makes us wear those horrific unis too.

Watching parts of this SEC championship... kind of points out how creative HC's are in the SEC. Or more correctly, how they are not. How Saban can come up with a plan to attack this D where they score 24 at halftime against a D that hasn't given up 17 all season... Yea. Especially how bad Bama looked last week.

Georgia O vs Bama D is about what I would have expected- some movement, scoring, etc.

But Georgia's D is supposed to be the best ever, and they just got 24 hung on them. and it looked pretty easy- receivers are VERY open. So open that the QB can hit one while he's going down.

Georgia has a history of failure dont they. So them losing this game wouldn't be unexpected.

Cincinnati winning, but not very convincing so far.

My other thought is, if Cincy plays in CFP and gets stomped it will be a told ya so moment for people against non-power 5 teams. Set us back 20 yrs.

The easy reply to that is that it didn't hurt the P12 or B10 when they got throttled. But it has to happen some day, and Cincy seems to be a high quality team to give it a go.

edit- if not them now, then who and when?

Bozo State is gone, as is the rest of the MtWest. And the obvious promotion for Fickel has been given to someone else already. Not many other big promotions out there for him.

This SEC game looks like a planned event to get both teams in. At least for some players. GA looks horrible.

Too bad the B1G west could not go undefeated.

Well, if current scores hold and Michigan wins, it will likely be:
1. Alabama
2. Michigan
3. Georgia
4. Cincinnati

If current scores hold and Michigan loses, it will likely be:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Cincinnati
4. Notre Dame

If Georgia can mount a comeback and Michigan wins, it will likely be:
1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Cincinnati
4. Alabama/Notre Dame/Baylor

If Georgia can mount a comeback and Michigan loses, it will likely be:
1. Georgia
2. Cincinnati
3. Alabama/Notre Dame/Baylor
4. Alabama/Notre Dame/Baylor

Of the Alabama/Notre Dame/Baylor triumvirate, I think that is ultimately the order the committee would rank the three.

With Alabama winning, the last Playoff team will come down to Michigan or Notre Dame.

With a Michigan win:
1. Alabama
2. Michigan
3. Georgia
4. Cincinnati

With an Iowa win:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Cincinnati
4. Notre Dame
