So did this earthquake stop before it really got rolling?

What stopped the Big XII from completely breaking down?

The Big XII schools that weren't UT, OK, and A+M capitulating to the demands and giving up some of their own money to keep UT around.

To find the best, to create a unique product, whether it is finding grapes for wine or building a team...you have to start early, seek out the right traits, dismiss those who don't meet your standards and grasp onto that which fits your vision. If trouble arises, clean the slate and start anew, but don't forsake your vision. Stay true to what has worked in the past.

Lane has gotten off to a good start

Imagine that, a player Lane Kiffin recruited involved in a fight in which 10 people beat up one guy and then knockout an off-duty police officer.

Did you read the article? The guy switched his commitment from Georgia to UT very late. He committed in Feb to UT, Kiffin had already been at USC when Rogers switched his commitment.

USC just had the best WR recruit class in years with Prater and Woods. At no point did Rogers seriously get recruited by USC and they weren't on his expansive list.

And even if Kiffin did recruit him, so did everyone in college football! He was the #2 WR in the entire nation according to Rivals.

So Domer Homer, next time do your research. Otherwise you come across as a poor researching hater.

Wow. Didn't take long for you to make Kiffin your own and therefore beyond reproach... How many 9-4 seasons will he have to rack up at USC before you decide you hate him and that it's time to throw him under the bus?

I'm sorry I used facts to destroy his snarky comment. My bad. It's because I love Kiffin right?

So lets paraphrase the story:

Pirate comes on gleefully to say look at Kiffin's recruit, he's a scumbag.
I prove he wasn't Kiffin's recruit.
You say, how dare you defend him, you love him and he's beyond reproach.

Appallingly illogical from you LynahFan. Did I say he was a saint? Did I say he was a good person? I simply defended him from one attempt at besmirching him. There's a lot of stuff you can come up with that you CAN go after Kiffin from. This is at best poor research by pirate.

Guess what, I probably follow college recruiting more than anybody on here, I knew who USC wanted and :gasp: I knew who Da'Rick Rogers was before this. He was right with Woods, Prater and Ambles in terms of talent as the top WRs in the nation. I knew USC never wanted him and he didn't want USC and I know when he switched his commitment to UT from GA...it happened because he liked the new UT staff! God forbid something happen and it actually has nothing to do with Kiffin.

Just hurry up and blame Kiffin for everything else while we're at it. He's burned a lot of bridges and done some stupid sketchy stuff, guess what he's a college football coach!

But to accuse one for doing something that he didn't do, pirate just rushed in to get his gotcha moment. Gotcha!:D

Re: College Football 2010: Dude, Where's my Conference?

I prove he wasn't Kiffin's recruit.
You did no such thing. He committed to Georgia more than a year earlier. Kiffin left UT in January and Rogers switched to Tennessee a month later.

How did you "prove" that this happened without any contact, encouragement, orchestration, or involvement in any way from Kiffin during the time Kiffin was at UT?

So I guess he's just guilty with no evidence.

I proved there is no proof, therefore he's innocent. Get with the program.

I can also show articles that state that Rogers only changed his mind when he met the new UT coaches and found them to be more professional. (Aka Coach Dooley.)

This is 1 of them.

so you proved Kiffin had no contact with this guy whatsoever and he only considered UT after Kiffin left or did you prove he committed after Kiffin left?

Kiffin left mid-January, correct? Rogers switched Feb 3. So Dooley came on board and got this kid to switch? you believe what you want. This isn't a courthouse...I can't prove OJ killed Nicole and her boyfriend but don't tell me he didn't do it. Where did he go to school again?

You are right, you really got me on that one.

Well, given that the "offense" we're talking about is recruiting a guy who turned out to be a bad apple, what coach isn't guilty? Even JoePa has had one or two over the last 2 centuries. So why even bother to protest?

Kiffin was fired on January 13. Signing Day was Feb 3. That's 21 days. It just seems awfully illogical to me to think that the new UT coaching staff was able to go after Rodgers and convince him to switch within those three weeks. It seems a whole lot more likely to me (just a personal opinion) that the process would have started much earlier than that, though I fully admit that I have no actual evidence for that belief.

rogers said he might have changed with Kiffin still there but he was enthralled with Dooley's NFL style of coaching. nice story but I don't buy it.

Kiffin left mid-January, correct? Rogers switched Feb 3. Did UT even have a coach at that time? I guess you could be right that the kid never had any contact with UT until after Kiffin left and then found Jesus and went to a school with no coach.

You are right, you really got me on that one.

This is low class from you. I expected better. I even have cited an article where they say why he switched. (New UT coaches.)

And you called him Kiffin's recruit because you wanted to assign blame to him, this isn't a semantics lesson. This is dishonest stuff from you. You know WHY you were bringing it up. You wanted to nail Kiffin to the wall, most people do. He's not very likable, I get that.

But you brought it up because you wanted to say his recruit, the guy HE brought to UT is a scumbag and Kiffin bears responsibility. At least be a man enough to admit it.

So now he bears blame because he tried to recruit a player that turned out to be a scumbag? So do what, the other 119 D-1 coaches? Because everyone wanted this guy. Well not USC, they already had 2 5 star WR recruits and then added a third on signing day.

So now with LynahFan saying all the coaches in D-1 share blame...look at the list for Da'Rick Rogers. If he had an offer from USC it would show it. If Kiffin offered Rogers, it would be on the list on rivals. There isn't one.

Kiffin also intentionally went after Markeith Ambles a former UT recruit, he didn't go after Rogers. Does that seem to weaken Pirate's case even more? I think so.

Change the post, say darn

Alabama
Florida
Florida State
Georgia
Ole Miss
Miss State
NC State
UCF
WVU

for recruiting him and actually making an offer. We don't even have proof that Kiffin offered him a scholarship.

This is ridiculous. There are so many things you can go after Kiffin on. He and Coach O calling the UT recruits who were EEing the next day and told them not to enroll. That was awful.

This? This was stupid.

Re: College Football 2010: Dude, Where's my Conference?

Alright, Coach O recruited Rogers and offered him. He did a visit in the home of Rogers' QB who was a UT commit as well.

I'm sorry, you're right. Kiffin is a bad bad man. He offered a scholarship to Rogers and they scheduled a campus visit. Of course, by the time he visited Kiffin was gone. But without Kiffin and Coach O convincing him to visit, he may never have ended up at UT.

Good job Kiffin, this is all your fault! Stop recruiting thugs!

Re: College Football 2010: Dude, Where's my Conference?

it's not personal

Kiffin is a scumbag. Obviously this kid has issues as well.

If you follow recruiting closer than anybody than you too would suspect that the kid didn't go 8 months with no contact from UT and then suddenly decommit and switch in 3 weeks.

The kid and Lane can sue me, a la Roger Clemens, and then I can request discovery on all email and phone records in those 8 months...what do you think I'd find?

Really, not an attack on you....just a guy that deserves it.
