It makes too much sense though so I highly doubt it will be used...
Exactly....
The Big Ten has a ton of viable Championship sites. They have domes (Detroit, Indy, and even Minneapolis), outdoor venues (Cleveland, Chicago, Green Bay), and if you wanted to stretch the traditional footprint for championship venues, you could include Pittsburgh and Cincy, too.
I so loathe the HHH for the NFL, but I suppose the game day experience (loud music, dance competitions during TV timeouts, etc....) wouldn't be as obnoxious as for Vikings games. However, even as a MN fan I think there are better options than MPLS given TCF wouldn't be big enough.
While I generally detest Nick Saban as a rule, he is right about the agents. I would happily support a suspension of 2-3 years for an agent whose actions lead to a player losing his eligibility in instances such as what we're seeing this summer.
You want to sign a kid after he declares for the NFL Draft? Great. Go for it. Best of luck to both of you. I hope it works out for the best. You want to front a kid $10K in the summer of his sophomore year and help cost the kid his eligibility? Let's shut your water off for a few years so that you can't represent anyone for a while. Let me know how that tastes.
Look, I realize that some of these kids aren't naive angels, and that some of them know good and well what they're doing along with the resulting consequences, but these agents can be responsible for their own actions. They're grown men, too.
Saban speaks out when his best defensive player is under investigation. Not a likely coincidence. I wonder if 'Bama or other teams get clobbered like USC? One can always wish for consistency, can't one?
That said, no doubt agents need to be brought under some sort of control.
This is getting way out there and probably won't happen, but is there any way the NFL can step up and suspend any player that is convicted of violating NCAA Rules?
Well, I've felt this way for quite a while. As for Alabama, they've got some serious NCAA monsters in their closet. If the NCAA came calling again, the good ol' boys down in Tuscaloosa aren't going to like the end result one bit.
It doesn't bother me that Saban is the one bringing the message here because I feel that the message is extremely accurate.
Well, considering that NCAA doesn't sanction a National Championship in what we know as D-1 football, I suppose that you can't take something away that wasn't awarded in the first place. I'm not sure how many double negatives there are in that sentence, but we're going with it.
Agreed. If the NC$$ cared about stuff like this, the only D-1 programs south of the Mason-Dixon line would be Vandy and Rice.
