Major probation, as opposed to being on probation as a result of major violations.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

"Double, secret probation"?

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Major probation includes not being eligible for bowl games/postseason, so I think 1993 Auburn was the last one.

This is why odds are it isn't going to hold water.

Alabama isn't on probation. They're having victories stripped that going to effect previous seasons, none of it has anything to do with this season.

There's a difference between being the head football coach (primary job: win football games) and the commencement speaker who also gets an honorary degree (primary job: pontificate to the graduates and their guests).

Correct, you give money to one, the other just gets a piece of paper... ;)

Yeah - one represents the university, is paid by the univesity, potentially remains at the university for years, is a symbol of the university, and mentors young men at the university. The other would have come and went without even speaking about the supposed skeleton in the first place at the university.

I'm actually playing devil's advocate on this and don't really care, but despite your spin the hypocrisy there is glaring.

Ha: http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/de...passports-time-interna/sports-colleges-bulls/

The Hillsborough County Clerk's Office threw a heck of a Hail Mary pass Thursday in attempts to get the University of South Florida football team to the International Bowl in Toronto on Jan. 2.

Now all the Bulls can do is hold their breath.

USF is rushing to expedite passports for nearly 200 people, from players to band members, so the outfit can make it to the not-so-frozen tundra of the Rogers Centre.

Coach Jim Leavitt got word Sunday afternoon they were heading to the International Bowl in Toronto and had to have his team's applications out by Thursday at the latest in order to cross the border.

A playoff? In college football? Aren't those kids missing class?

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

William & Mary should just let them score and take the 8 point lead...

Now it's too late.

Villanova wins 14-13.

This playoff thing just might work...

These rumors out of Lawrence, Kansas better not be true...

I don't think the future looks too bright for Lawrence, KS...

Like anyone would miss that hellhole.

Harbaugh would be foolish to take that job.

Dear Navy, your new uniforms are another reason to root against you.

Go Army!
Beat Navy!

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

I'm betting there won't be a lot of Air Force recruitment ads during this game. :p

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

That's a big turnover. Army wasn't going to score much without that kind of help.

Still didn't score too much, but this has to be Army's first lead in forever (give or take an eon).

Even with that help they could only get a FG. It's now 9 quarters.
