There's just no justification for retaining Weis. This had to have been decided weeks ago. My God, even Michigan beat them.

Except it will cost Notre Dame an awful lot of money to buy him out. 18 mil. Plus his assistants. Then go hire another coach. Mark May pointed this out tonight on ESPN. They have 45-50 mil to set up another coach? I don't know about that.

Yeah its a lot of money but I dont see Notre Dame having a problem finding cash when they need it.

Despite blowing the opportunity to go to a lousy bowl, I think it was a heckuva year for K-State. That, and the Big 12 North is absolutely putrid. Enjoy getting pounded by Texas, Nebraska.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

I usually don't have a problem with Oregon jerseys like some people do, but white jerseys with white names on them is purely asinine.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Charlie Weiss is going to get 18 million dollars for losing to UCONN. He's like a bank CEO, the more he fails the richer he gets.

I'd let him be the O-coordinator for Childress's squad....

edit: so the oregon-arizona game is pretty good...looks like its going to OT, barring a kick-off return for TD

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Oregon wins, 44-41 in double OT.

Oregon versus Oregon State for a right to play in the Rose Bowl next week.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Well Stanford had its chances but didn't play it's game. The running game was going well when they tried it but they kept going back to passing, and Luck was having a bit of an off day. Especially at the end, 1:35 left on the Cal 13, plenty of time to do a few running plays, get it in safely, and run out the clock. Also, you really shouldn't run on the field when it's not your stadium; maybe all the students saw the cops lined up and wanted to run into them to relive this past week in Berkeley. :p

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

While it's D2 Football, there was an incredible defensive battle in a playoff game today.

West Liberty 84
Edinboro 63

Impressive!
You know that there's another thread to talk about D2 football right?? :p

this is 2009, right? not 2008?
Nope, its the year 3000.

Yes. Last year there was a game with like 165 points or something scored. So defenses are improving!
Actually, it was 161 points.

So, whats a good spot to get something to eat at in Duluth?? any recommendations??

When I was on my ship this summer, everybody told me if I went to Duluth to hit up Grandma's... right near the aerial bridge and real close to the DECC.

Best line I've seen so far: If your job hangs in the balance over whether you can beat Connecticut, then the question is already answered before the game begins.

maybe, just maybe, we can stop pretending that Notre Dame is a program that has national relevance because they're good and start realizing that their program has national relevance because people still love the glory days of Catholic football.

True that.

People were still confused on this point? Seriously? I mean, besides deluded NBC executives...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I just wanted to back this one up as it applies to Notre Dame and Rutgers.

jmh - you should be most upset that SU sacked RU's quarterback 9 times and an SU linebacker broke a school record for most tackles for a loss (6.5). Paulus didn't win them the game, the defense and running game did.

the defense and running game did.

They've been the backbone of this SU team all season and that's encouraging because those are the aspects of the game that I would want to re-build my football program around. I hope they keep building on this next year.
