College Basketball ver Do Wedzenia Krzyzewski

Former St. John's men's basketball coach Mike Anderson is seeking nearly $46 million from the school after he claims he was fired with cause in March only so the school could avoid paying his buyout and use the money to hire Rick Pitino, per arbitration documents obtained by ESPN on Thursday.

In the "notice of intention to arbitrate" filed last month by Anderson's lawyer, John Singer of Singer Deutsch, Anderson said he's seeking the $11.4 million that was left on his contract and an additional $34.2 million for "punitive" damages.

I’m surprised his contract was apparently fully guaranteed since the article doesn’t list another amount besides what was remaining on the deal.

Not sure what he did to deserve a six year extension after 2020-21 either, or how he got Big East Coach of the Year that season. He went 10-9, which was good for 4th in the conference, so they must’ve been projected last. But from St Johns side of things, he didn’t make the tournament and it was the same record when they decided not to extend Steve Lavin in 2015, who did make the tournament that year.

Purdue star center Zach Edey, the consensus National Player of the Year, announced Wednesday that he is withdrawing his name from the NBA draft and returning to the Boilermakers for another season.
A 7-foot-4 center from Canada, Edey was the most dominant player in the sport last season. He averaged 22.9 points and 12.9 rebounds and shot 60.7% from the field -- ranking sixth in scoring, second in rebounds and 21st in field goal percentage. Edey also averaged more than two blocked shots per game. He scored at least 30 points on eight occasions, including 38 points and 13 rebounds in a late-January win over Michigan State. Edey scored in double figures in every game last season and had 28 double-doubles.

Good. I hope my Hoosiers sweep them again and they suffer another embarrassing first-round loss.

A buddy of mine who is a Purdue alum is fapping pretty hard over that news. Replied to his text "oh good he gets to come back and have another year that ends with an early exit and disappointment. How exciting"

Man, they still have some lingering Robbie Hummel trauma don't they?

There is definitely something going on with that fan base. For the last 8-10 years at least its always been "this year is the year" or "next season will be the year, since they will have more experience." And those goalposts shift a lot. Early in the season its always "Championship" or "Final Four" that they will definitely make. Then its "Elite 8" then back to Final Four then Elite 8 and then they come up with some excuse for why they didn't get past the 2nd round. This year the big excuse was the ball. "We use a different ball than everyone else and that's why we lost in the 1st round."

I think Matt ten Dam will put them over the top. Once he figures out how a basketball works.
