College Basketball ver Do Wedzenia Krzyzewski

Without looking, do either have both in a roughly modern era? Do I need to think of ancient football titles or ancient basketball titles?

One has titles that are exclusively more recent in both. The other hasn't won a football title for quite some time. And it's basketball championships came a good 20 years apart but I guess could be considered modern. It's football titles are poll titles.

Are we talking consensus football titles? If not, I would have to imagine Michigan State would be one of the teams.

I can't remember, but did Florida win back to back titles in basketball about 15 years ago (or maybe twice in three years)? If so, they would be the other.

Michigan State if you consider 1950 to be modern. Florida is modern in both.

That's where I first saw it too. It's quite fascinating actually. I'm kind of surprised that in all that time there hasn't been more. Looking through his Twitter he has tons of dumb statistics and maps and stuff that are pointless or don't really mean much but are at the same time interesting.

The one he posted of baseball, basketball, football and, hockey is interesting too. It looks at multiple titles of course to but it makes me wonder how many can claim a title in all 4. Michigan for sure. That might be the only one.

It’s not really too surprising. The ACC and PAC-12 suck at football outside of a couple of schools, and they kinda suck at basketball. The rest have been from mid-majors or non-football schools.

We have had a few close ones, Auburn immediately comes to mind.

Yeah I love this kind of trivial stuff. Likely too hard to make a reasonable sized graphic for every school winning one title in each. I was surprised it was Michigan State being the only one to win multiple titles in the big three.

You guys missed Ohio State (1960), Michigan (1989) and Arkansas (1994).

Edit: Nevermind, you said multiple titles.

I like where someone asks his for a lacrosse/X-country/debate diagram.

Crazy stuff coming out of Las Cruces and the New Mexico State men’s team.

Back in November they were supposed to play New Mexico in Albuquerque and a player went out after curfew to meet up with a girl he met on a dating app. As it turns out, it was actually a trap set up by three other guys who claim that the player fought them at the NMSU/UNM football game earlier in the year. The player was shot, but he also had a gun and shot and killed one of the attackers. The player was transported to the hospital, but then the team took off back to Las Cruces despite police wanting to interview staff. They actually had to send police to stop the bus and get them to turn around. Then it turned out the coaches had the gun and had wrapped it in a towel.

That was earlier in the year. Tonight they just announced they are suspending the program as “new allegations” have come out against the coaching staff. Completely separate from the Albuquerque incident.

Just wow. I lived in Cruces for 5 years(86-90). I take a peak at the standings every once in a while to see how the football team(went to a few of their games)and b-ball team is doing. Won't have to bother with NMSU hoops.
