College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Small schools will do anything to get on National TV I guess... This is a cool thing IMO though... College students are creative and used to being up past dawn the following day  :p :D

I'm glad the Missouri Valley said no to ESPN for this thing - they wanted a Valley school to play a home game at 11:00 am on a Tuesday. All of the schools said no.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Most of the starters are seniors now so if they're going to win a game or two in the NCAAs then this is the year. (Or if they want to upset Syracuse in a few weeks.)

Two? Two?! TWO??!

Cornell did get one vote in the last poll, and they may even be the favorite against Syracuse. At Kansas in January... not so much.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Good vs. Evil tonight in the Garden (Cal-Cuse) should be an interesting test for both teams.

And I hold out some hope Cornell can get a 12 seed this year. Its supposed to be a strong season for mid-majors.

Obviously the Utah Valley/Minnesota game is a big test for the #18 Gophers tonight. :p

Hey, crazy things happen in single-elimination tournaments. I don't think it was all THAT long ago that Penn was in the Sweet 16. (Or was it Princeton?)

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

People going to shut-up about the LeMoyne exhibition loss now?

Syracuse is throtling PAC-10 "favorite" #12 Cal right now at the Garden. 87-66 right now with four minutes to play.

Cuse's athletic 2-3 zone giving Cal a ton of problems and Syracuse is getting scoring from all over the floor.

Winner plays the UNC/Ohio State winner and loser plays the loser of that game tomorrow night.

I'm currently on suicide watch. Cornell needs to avenge this game.

So Syracuse loses to Le Moyne but blows out #4 North Carolina?

No people won't shut up about that loss, they should have won by 30.

Who does UNC have this year? Oh... right. They all went pro.

UNC is horribly overrated at this point, where as I think Cuse can be a top 15 team.

It's definitely hard to gauge teams this early. Even Kansas struggled and they should live up to their ranking as the season goes on.

They count in public opinion. :) Which by the way is sometimes more important than wins and losses depending on the college sport.

More embarrassing?

SU losing to LeMoyne in a warm-up game or BGSU beating Michigan 4-2 last night?

I hate Michigan with every fiber in my body, so I pray that they lose every game against every team in every sport in every dimension that exists. :D

Fortunately there is a criteria for college basketball that doesnt include exhibition games

This isn't the BCS:cool:

So what happens if Syracuse wins the National Championship? Should LeMoyne be the de-facto D-I Champs?;)

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

#17 Oklahoma looks to be going down to VCU tonight. Still a good bit of time left in 2nd half, but they are down 12.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Tons and tons of games.

Some of the notable:
UCLA losing to Butler and Portland
Portland reaching the finals of the 76 classic tonight
MSU taken down by UF
I think Northwestern won the Chicago classic by beating Notre Dame and Iowa St.
Cincy-Gonzaga thriller
Duke-UConn blowout

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Ugh!

I leave town and the Gophers upset #10 Butler only to then go and lose to Portland? :(

I suppose those balance out and they will stay in the #16-20 range for rankings. But come on?!

Now they play Texas A&M (Anaheim) and then are @Miami for the ACC/Big Ten challenge.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Wes Johnson is good at basketball.:)

Unfortunately I think he'll only be playing one year in the orange and head to the NBA. Onuaku and Rautins are outside shots at making it to the big stage but both will be graduating in May.

SU has a tremendous class coming in next season headlined by Dion Waiters and Fabricio Melo, 7'0, 270 LBS!

Hopefully Jimmy will be able to keep Mookie Jones, Sutherland, and Dashonte Riley at Cuse so they can have a deeper team than seven next season.
